Re: [Multi-boot ROM] Wmod RC-2 - Updated

if i do this upgrade....is there a way to downgrade to original FW? i just got my a5. still new to it. looking to get better app compatibility with froyo. Its multiboot .. means it's optional to the main installation of Archos provided Donut based fw. You'll have this and Archos fw at the same time...

Re: Swype Beta V3 FC problems

So, I got an email from Swype, saying that the new V3 is out, and my current version is about to expire. I download and install, and it FC's every time I try to open the keyboard! I uninstalled and re-installed several times, to no avail. No problem, I thought - I have the older apk backed up...

Re: "You need to format the disk in drive X: before you can

Typical windows error when windows is unable to recognize the FS on the attached drive. If its the problem with a new unit.. maybe you can try formatting the unit from the recovery console and the try connecting in windows.

Even the VPN type that's shown in A5IT doesn't work with the stock firmware. Simply speaking ... it can't be done.

I see on the OpenAOS.org that most of the recent entries are either toward gen8 or about ubuntu. Kills me to say it.. but I believe that the joke on Openaos is clear - 'Milestone Android 2.2 the unlikely'

Re: Calibration off

I have hacked my Archos 5 internet tablet to run Android 2.2 Froyo. I used openAOS to find the files. I got the Archos to duel boot and run Froyo, but when it loaded, the calibration was way off. I used "Calibration Test" app preloaded to try and fix this, but it did not work. I repeated this multi...

What you need is this app... try setting it to moderate or aggressive mode and see:

Re: [Multi-boot ROM] Wmod RC-2 - Updated

The way this worked on mine (A5IT 32GB) was - installed RC-2 and used arctools to get Market. From Market I installed Flash 10.3, this gave me working flash in the browser (checked via BBC website); flash played either in window on the web page or full screen. I then installed BBC iPlayer and again...

Re: [Multi-boot ROM] Wmod RC-2 - Updated

Just goes to show how unstable the device is I guess. Flash doesn't work for me on youtube, dailmotion etc but users here are reporting that flash from browser works fine (although no mention of any site).

Re: [Multi-boot ROM] Wmod RC-1

@pcpal MP3 totally works; So far I havent got a single "system reboot" or force close; an app works or doesnt. Your Archos file system seems messed up; with Hard Drives, these things happens. Sure fix is reformat, but maybe you can give a try replacing only the .img file first. Apps2sd will NEVER w...

Re: Android 2.2, rumors, speculation and facts

It has already been catagorically stated that the A5 will never be updated beyond v1.6. If Archos do a u-turn on this decision it will be the 1st time in the 7 yrs I have owned Archos products Has it been stated somewhere that they do not have an upgrade plan in mind officially by Archos? AFAIK, it...

Re: Please Help

It requires dual boot so you have nothing to loose and everything to gain. Try it out, though, I'm not sure if HW Acceleration is enabled or not and therefore whether your gaming experience would be smooth or laggy. You may report back your findings here.

Re: Please Help

2.0.45 is the firmware numbering used by Archos. It isn't the Android version. In 2.0.45 version of Archos Firmware, the android version is still Android 1.6 (Donut). Some of the games requiring newer android enhancements may not work but it is not to say that you've made a bad decision. The most pop...
