Re: Mouldy Cheese and hard drive lock

And I know there was an issue with the 160GB units - does the moldy cheese also remove the lock from that one, or no? (I have one 160GB that's only good for GFT3, but I have another that can have moldy cheese applied - the former has plugins I bought, the latter was a spare. I'd like to be able to c...

Archos 5 cosmetic difference?

Here's an interesting one, and I think it's just a cosmetic difference, but I have an Archos 5 250GB with a strange set of labels. Near the power button, on all the Archos 5 units I've seen, are three text labels - CHG, PWR, and "Reset 10 sec". However, on mine, the "Reset 10 sec" is missing. Instea...

Mouldy Cheese and hard drive lock

This is a really stupid question, but I can't seem to find a definite answer. I have two 605-160s and would like to know if the mouldy cheese hack (the one with the patched bootloaders) also breaks the hard drive lock so you can replace the hard drive freely. I know Guy Fawkes does (I also have an A...

Re: HELP- firmware patch 1.6.54

Make sure you copy all the files that were inside the "patch...." folder into /media/disk first.

There are many files a few named something.cramfs.secure.patched, flash/mv/rm, and several others. Ensure that they are all copied first before running the chown/chmod commands.

Re: Archos = Junk

Yeah, Archos is known for their stuck pixels. They apparently buy really low-grade LCD displays (at 800x480, you have to go seriously low-grade) to have dead pixels. There's a list that most LCD panel manufacturers go by when grading panels - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_13406-2 Just FYI, it's p...

Re: TUT: GUY FAWKES HACK WITH NO DVR STATION -HOW TO!

You need to downgrade back to 1.6. Archos patched the DTI bug in 1.7.

Re: for archos 605wifi firmware 1.8.07 (or anything >1.7.13)..

If I remember my sd8xxx stuff I did, you need to pass it a few command line arguments like modprobe sd8xxxx.ko helper_bin=/path/to/helper-sd.bin fw_bin=/path/to/firmware or something. Those aren't the exact arguments (they'll be in the binary, so you can probably interrogate it to find otu what the ...

Re: Moldy Cheese for 4 GB and 160 GB 605s

Looking at the 160GB would be your best bet, since that one is similar to the other 605's that mouldy cheese works on. The flash one is a bit trickier since the flash code is different between accessing the flash and accessing the hard drive. You have to start at the bootloader so it can load an uns...

Re: Moldy Cheese for 4 GB and 160 GB 605s

The 160GB is very similar to the other hard drive units. However, the flash code is oh-so-slightly different because it's a PATA drive being used in LBA48 mode to get to the >128GB area. I'm not sure why Archos didn't make one flash code to rule them all (at least, the hard drive ones) (since LBA48 ...

Re: Moldy Cheese for 4 GB and 160 GB 605s

Is this offer still open? I do have a spare 605-160GB that I don't mind bricking. (It's a spare and it's got an extended warranty, so...)

I've done the GFT hack way back when (arcwelder, too). Just need the binaries to dump the flash.
