Re: Dailymotion

While we're on the topic, the Dailymotion "channel" under Media Club also doesn't work properly for me. Whilst I get the (really, really bad looking) front page, when I go to "Channels" the links are white on white background, i.e. not visible. And clicking the "jukebox" and left arrow buttons which...

Re: Dailymotion

Same here, never worked for me.

Nowadays I don't have any of the stock Archos apps installed at all. Simply uninstall them and exit the startup wizard after calibration during a firmware upgrade so that they don't come back...

Re: 16 stickies??? Really?

At the risk of getting flamed, here are my two cents: there is a conceptual difference between a forum and a wiki, and you should not try to make one into the other. As far as I am concerned, a forum is a place where people come to ask questions. It's not structured, it's not something you need to r...

Re: DUALOS for Archos 5 IT

Archos is really getting into this open source thing. What's going on? Management change? Allen More likely a certain fruit company entering the tablet market lately. In order to have any chance of competing, Archos are trying to generate a buzz and harness the community. Let's hope it works out fo...

Re: Having problems with changing book covers in Aldiko

I downloaded a few epub books from Project Gutenberg which come with really unpretty default covers. I tried to use the same functionality as you mentioned but without success. I think perhaps the "Change Cover Art" feature only allows you to use a picture from t...

Re: Different whoami output in different apps?

And these users don't exist in /etc/passwd which is why the "unknown uid" thing comes up, presumably. Running login xxx gives "applet requires root privileges" which means that even if you have a password for one of those users you can't login as them. I am just getting my head around this, although...

Different whoami output in different apps?

I am wondering if anyone can shed a bit of light on this. I've installed two terminal emulators on my tablet: Better Terminal Emulator and Connectbot (ok, Connectbot is not a terminal emulator, it does a lot more than that, but it is possible to open a local session through it). Both of these are av...

Re: HOWTO: ADB support on Ubuntu Linux (on-device debugging!)

Thanks! I guess this must be because the 1.6 firmware is a development version which was mentioned in another thread. Have you tried running su from a shell on the tablet (e.g. Better Terminal Emulator or Connectbot)?

Re: HOWTO: ADB support on Ubuntu Linux (on-device debugging!)

Yes, through I ran the same in adb shell, there's no su in my tablet. 1) What firmware have you got? Mine is 1.4.25 with Google Market. 2) Did you try running su - (or /system/xbin/su -)? Does it let you login as root? 3) To check for sqlite can you run the following (I think the executable should b...

Re: HOWTO: ADB support on Ubuntu Linux (on-device debugging!)

laustmcgregor/gunnar-medial/anybody else who's been poking around: couple of questions! 1) I was expecting to find su under /system/xbin but it's not there. find / -name "su" -print 2> /dev/null does not find anything. Does this mean no root access, even through adb? 2) Same story with the sqlite ex...

Re: HOWTO: ADB support on Ubuntu Linux (on-device debugging!)

Thanks laustmcgregor.

I can confirm that after manually adding 0x0e79 in ~/.android/adb_usb.ini this also works in Ubuntu.

Re: HOWTO: ADB support on Ubuntu Linux (on-device debugging!)

I gather this is a bug introduced in the 1.4 firmware. Let's hope it gets fixed soon.

I followed these instructions on Debian Sid. No dice getting adb to recognize the device. I have enabled adb on the archos. :~$ lsusb Bus 004 Device 002: ID 08ff:2810 AuthenTec, Inc. Re: Media Club Favorites

Yes, this is now fixed with the latest firmware. But it looks like they've introduced a new bug - video podcast favourites are now diasplayed under Web Radio instead of Web TV.

Media Club Favorites

Is it just me or is the favorites management completely broken in Media Club - Web TV and Web Radio? Whatever editing I do, whether adding my own favorites or removing of the ones which are there by default, this seems to last for the current session only. Once the player is rebooted, some or all of...
