Re: video question for you experts

Personally I like h.264 and aac in an mkv container. The only things you need the HD plugin for are MPEG-2, WMV HD, .vob images, and AC3 or 5.1 audio.

Re: A2dp solves tons of issues in one fell swoop

Glad it's working out for you. One niggle though: sound quality is not equivalent to boosting bass. Sound quality will obviously better through wired headphones than over bluetooth.

The controls must be nice though.

Yes it's supposed to be standard and in my experience is much more common than Mini.

You should charge it fully (until the light by the micro usb port blinks) before using it.

Re: This article says not to use a task killer with Android.

I think that article probably holds true on most Android devices, but not necessarily our A5A. On my Galaxy S I get by perfectly fine without killing any tasks, and it seems to be happy without a lot of free RAM - so Android built in task management is doing its job. On the other hand, with the A5A ...

You can download it from the Market and try it yourself, but it's never worked for me.

Just reboot and try to update again. It's happened to me a couple of times and that usually solves it.

Long press on power will give you a home button. Useful for all fullscreen apps.

Re: Google Calendar

If I remember correctly, Archos does not include a calendar app. The generic one that you see is the stock Google calendar, installed with the Market suite; it should be able to sync with your online Google calendar. Make sure you have syncing on in your global settings as well as in the calendar se...

Re: Best A/V Combo For A5A?

H.264 video and AAC audio in an MKV container have proved the most consistent for me in terms of audio/video alignment.

Re: FLAC vs. MP3

You would have to do blind tests to find out for yourself. Everyone is different. Also, it depends on the quality of your mp3s. If you've got well encoded 320kb/s files then honestly the difference to flac is not going to be major. I still prefer flac.

Re: Archos 5 "Safely Remove Hardware" USB option unavailable

look on your notifaction window on your archos screen you can turn it off there, also you can mount it from there. But actually that option is the same as just pulling the plug. Peripherals connected with USB cannot mount or unmount themselves, only the host (ie your computer) can. So disconnecting...

Nope, through a dock the A5A only has USB support for mass storage drives, keyboards, and mice.

Re: Archos 5 "Safely Remove Hardware" USB option unavailable

Are you using MTP connection mode? If I remember correctly, MTP doesn't cache writes, so you don't need to unmount it to disconnect. Just make sure any transfers are done and pull the plug (or hit dismount from the A5A's notification bar, which does the same thing).
