Re: Overheating
My guess is that you have a widget or something that is keeping the device from actually sleeping. So it is staying awake and churning through some data, while in your hot enclosed pocket. Watch your unit closely while it is "sleeping" and see if the green LED comes on and goes off while its asleep....

Re: Android 2.1 OS Will support Flash Videos-Google
At the Interop convention in Las Vegas yesterday I saw the new HTC Sprint EVO phone, running android 2.1, with full flash in the browser.
It was amazing, literally had no problems with complex flash pages.

Re: Tether protocol?
Oh and as a side note, BT tethering is so munch more reliable then WiFi for me, and uses less battery.
I pretty much have stopped using WiFi for the most part, I tether my bluetooth even when im 20 feet from my WiFi router.

Re: Tether protocol?
I am not going to read all this post, but i found some interesting things with tethering. I have a Sprint HTC Touch Pro, that is unlocked and running a custom rom. Well long story short, most roms only report BT DUN protocol as an option, so the archos greys it out, and you cannot pick. Some roms sh...

I made a huge mistake too...
I should have bought a Hummer instead of a motorcycle.
Clearly on paper its stats are better.

Re: Advantages Of Root
Having root access does not inherently mean you get better performance.
In fact root access itself changes virtually nothing, until you take advantage of that root access with some code that otherwise would be restricted.

So did this work for you too?
I have never been able to get my Sprint Touch Pro to make a successful tether.

Just wanted to say, my Archos A5 32 GB has never run as well as it is now with this firmware!
My Internet is actually working reliably again!

Sometimes I wonder if Archos leaves these holes in on purpose just to spite google not letting them in officially.
I bet it will still have the ability in the new firmware.

Re: NEW FIRMWARE 1.6.08 Report bugs here (Donut) - withdrawn
After having it A day I noticed that the battery seems to be better. AVC seems to run slightly better and I like the Power Control Widget. There is a problem where it doesn't recognize the security on some web pages, but that is no deal breaker and it is not totally ruined like the original firmwar...

Archos better get this firmware out fast, otherwise members of this forum are going to kill each other off out of frustration!

Re: NEW FIRMWARE 1.6.08 Report bugs here (Donut) - withdrawn
They pulled the FW, not for some supposed browser issue (that nobody can seem to find), but rather because they left the thing wide open for people much wiser than me to exploit (exploit=improve) the device. Once again someone says something with no information backing it up. I will ask AGAIN, wher...

Re: NEW FIRMWARE 1.6.08 Report bugs here (Donut) - withdrawn
Wasnt there an announcement from an Archos official user (NZ) shortly after they have withdrawn 1.6 that on coming Monday (last week, today?) a new 1.6 will be available? I am happy with the withdrawn 1.6. Runs as stable as all the other firmwares before. I believe that they only withdrew it becaus...

Re: Google Marketplace, Maps, Gmail running on archos device!
The Archos uses an EXT3 file-system, which is not natively supported by windows, hence it showing up but windows thinking it needs to be formatted. You can download an EXT3 driver for windows which will allow you to use Mass Storage mode on windows. EXT3 is the most common file-system used in Linux ...

Also this tapping on the screen before the menu comes up that you describe is a entirely different thing as you might think, this has todo with the DSP/CPU load @ the time of playback and this can be very different even between scenes Yea I have noticed that, all in all though, it seems improvement...

Re: Despite being withdrawn - 1.6 update is nice
yep AMC is much more unstable on 1.6.08 also the latency is worse :( Seems more stable and faster then any other firmware on mine, strange. In-fact the more I use it, the more stable and fast I find it in general usage. I'm liking it a lot, I can actually comfortably use the Archos media applicatio...
