Re: Need a guide to use the Google App Inventor

Gents, I just want to check I have got this right....... The reistriction is that you cannot generate Java SDK code for deeper develoipment? 3. Can you prototype with App Inventor then generate Java SDK code to work at a lower-level? At this time, App Inventor does not generate Java SDK code. You ca...

Re: Can the Archos 5 Android play DIVX files

Most of my dvd rips are to DivX as I have a number of devices and they all support it. The Archos plays them fine.

Oh and I use the IMTOO tool to rip my DVDs

Re: My Account

My understanding is that registering on the device (via the settings menu) is different to registering on tyhe web site. registering on the device activates a number of pieces of functionality, such as the HD codec (it's different to the cinema one you pay for) and things like web tv, additional fil...

Re: Desktop widget to shut off

Is there any way to put an icon on the desktop which will just turn off the device without any further questions asked? I looked into this when I was doing the OneClick AMC Widgets. I couldn't find a documented way to shut down an android device in code. So right now I am not aware of a widget that...

Gabriel1964 , You're right! I accidentally misspoke. 98% of web browsers have Flash Player installed. In my haste I erred. Most stats on the web have Flash content at somewhere around 30-40% of all sites. Sorry for that, good catch. Now... show me a real interactive, interesting and informative sit...

For those of us who create Flash applications or just those who wish to have a REAL Internet experience ( 98% of websites incorporate Flash ) you need Froyo or better - working. Can you sight a source please. 98% of the websites I use and develop do not use flash. In fact our client base (all corpo...

Re: archos have messed up

That is only the first of a number of devices that will have 2.x on them according to the data we have at present. They will include devices upto about a 10 inch screen (5 inch and 7 inch are rumored to be in there too), so I think Archos have just announced the 3.2 inch before the others is all.

To delete a widget press and hold it. The app tray slideout becomes a trash can and you then drag it there

Re: google maps & street view

During the archos calibrate loop I believe you have the option to create a new google account. If you can do that and complete the setup you can reconfigure the google account later, otherwise its a cold reboot and hold the volume plus button as it reboots to get into recovery mode. That will let yo...

Re: google maps & street view

Have you tried a pin reset? (ie a paper clip in the reset hole). This may well restart the wizard and allow you to restart the wizard. Other than that it will be recovery mode time and a new firmware install. I am sorry you are having these issues - I like many here have installed the google hack wi...

Re: google maps & street view

Although I have never had this issue I do remember something about it on the forum here. I have a feeling that if you have changed your google mail address after an offer from Google (I think it was change from googlemail.com to gmail.com or maybe vica versa) that you have issues. Personally I would...

Re: Today is paid apps day for Archos...

Yup, every software project I ever managed had at least one moment like that. I usually had fun with it by taking it seriously and presenting them with a quick breakdown of the costs involved in duplicating Amazon or Google and then asked them if that multi-million dollar figure fit their proposed ...

I give no warranty as to functionality. It may or may not work. That's for the user to discover after purchase. People have such unrealistic high standards for software these days! Re: "Can't play video" message on YouTube bookmark

Google have repeatedly messed with the youtube API and as such have managed on a number of occassions to break Archos' integration. I believe this is the current situation. One way around this is to install the Market Hack and that will give you the youtube app whioch will play your youtube video's ...

Re: Which to Buy and Some questions

Back to the point - which one to buy? Going back to my first post (on Sunday) in this thread, I bought a used 32GB model from eBay. It arrived this morning, and I spent the day rebuilding it to my satisfaction, from a reformat upwards. I really wanted to compare hands on, the SSD model with my 160G...
