I have similar issues. I get around it this way. Start your music playback then navigate to your photos and open up one of the pictures and just leave it sitting on the screen. This works for me every time and I'd be really interested if it stops your crashes as well.

Re: Hard disk disappeared
I see the file corrupt message on just about every mp3 I play on the A7. I did hack the A7 to have a 500g drive in it which it sees perfect and have the patched firmware on it. Even with a brand new seagate 500g SATA drive, I see the same behavior. It just never can play 10 songs in a row without t...

Re: PDF reader
I just use PDFzilla to convert the my PDF's to Jpegs and then view the pages as pictures. A lot more snappier then using the default PDF viewer.

By low level reset do you mean clearing the caches.

Bloody Oath, I'd cough up money if it meant having Android on my A7.

Re: Registering My Archos
If you bought it off someone, then they might have to log into they're Archos account and unregister the device, otherwise you'll need to contact Archos support and see if they'll do it for you.

Re: Playing stopped. File is corrupted
Yep done all that. I swapped out the previous hdd myself thinking it was at fault, but the issue has continued. I hear the click as it rebuffers, sometimes at this stage I get the file corrupted error or it might happen during music playback. Watching music video's and movies does not give me the er...

Re: Playing stopped. File is corrupted
I tried all that. Nothing worked for me. The only way I can play music for extended periods it to start my music playback then go into my photos and run a slideshow. That way the HDD does not get a chance to run down and dismount.

Re: Problems with WindowsMediaPlayer 11
You could try uninstalling it in device manager then reinstalling it. 1. Turn on your device and connect it to your computer. 2. On the taskbar, click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Manage. 3. In the pane on the left, click Device Manager. 4. In the pane on the right, expand Portable...

Yep, no screenlock mode when playing videos. This would be handy when the kids are watching movies on it.

You can browse the web on the iPad, as long as you don't need flash support. http://www.technologyreview.com/blog/editors/24731/?a=f

Re: Playing stopped. File is corrupted
No overheating with mine. The HDD seems to unmount during music playback and you have to restart it to fix the problem. Others have noticed this, but no-one seems to know why or how to fix the issue.

Re: Playing stopped. File is corrupted
Mine does this with and without battery power. I've changed the battery and the HDD as well as experimenting with different firmware versions and different music formats. I've tried Flac, Ogg Vorbis, and WMA and I either get the file corrupted error or the device justs reboots. The music might play ...

Re: how do you stream from your pc to your archos?
Could be your firewall. Try disabling it and see what happens. Another issue could be that you've installed your own firewall and if your running XP (or some other windows version) it's firewall is still activated and blocking the media. If that's the case then disable the windows firewall and see w...
