Re: GFT3 (Stable v1.0) for archos605 wifi (Software Jailbrea

Surely the actual bootloader is not cracked, so the disk serial number has to match?

I thought the GFT3 made no difference. You can't swap a drive without clone internal serial code of old drive or edit bootloader? Otherwise there is no security.

Re: Better with separate A5IT and A5IMT Open Development for

A605 WiFi needs to be separate from A5x as it seems quite different. Difficult to to spot the relevant threads.

Re: Still looking for a PDF alternative

The biggest issue with text, html, flash or PDF files of datasheets (some are over 200 pages, some 3000 pages) and of eBooks is the fact the there is no automatic remembering of the last page. When I open a doc in Foxit PDF reader or mobipocket on PC it remembers the last page. When I open firefox i...

Re: Jailbreak completed....now what??

Too soon. No-one written any. Gadgets are not like PCs. Even Android or Symbian or WinCe/Mobile programs are not portable to all gadgets with same OS. iPhone they are starting to see some apps that only work on latest model, and they only have three variants of one phone. iPhone Apps only work on iP...

Re: GFT3 (Stable v1.0) for archos605 wifi (Software Jailbreak)

1) Is the only think I ever wanted :) It's what makes PCs, netbooks, laptops running OSX, Windows, Solaris, Linux useful. 2) IMO a pointless backward step in functionality. 3) No need for me, technically theft anyway. 4) maybe... 1) I'll port my auto hypertext creating TextEditor as eBook Reader. If...

Re: GFT3 (Stable v1.0) for archos605 wifi (Software Jailbreak)

I haven't tested this yet. I think originally it did not work on 160GByte drive which is what I have (two years old?). is it tested on 160GByte with last Archos 2.1xx SW release? I have all plugins, though the only ones I ever have used are vTuner (good value) and webBrowser. The only video I bother...

Re: GFT3 (Stable v1.0) for archos605 wifi (Software Jailbreak)

Thanks for the advice, guys. I guess ultimately I am just not _that_ interested in getting it to work...that is, until something beyond free plugins is possible. ;) If this is stable and reliable, I'd write/port a decent eBook Reader, with Goto Page Number and Remembers last page read on EVERY book...

Re: for archos 605wifi firmware 1.8.07 (or anything >1.7.13)..

You can install EXTFS tools on XP. The USB on Archos seems to be a USB2GO, you can't "host" and "slave" at the same time and the data pins on the host and client connectors seem to be in parallel. You have to peel off the metal cover to get at screws on the mini battery/USB dock It's marginally poss...

1) They always upgrade the Firmware. 2a) Complain to them about the recording. 2b) Record direct Digital (Satellite or Digital Terrestrial) transport stream (or copy your own DVD in Europe) on PC (using PCI or PCIe cards) and reformat/ recode to MPEG4 at a decent bitrate using 2 pass VBR after recor...

Re: for archos 605wifi firmware 1.8.07 (or anything >1.7.13)..

The only options IMO are: 1) Archos to release a firmware update with SDE 2) Access to Jtag and write to the flash directly. The last option would be very difficult if even possible and needs some serious hardware knowledge and skills. Maurice 8) Jtag needs ground, data in, data out and clock pins....

Re: Speculations on what Archos will show at CES

You can use a low bitrate codec like iLBC or speex, but the problem is that IP (data) is not very efficient on EDGE, HSPA or EVDO as the underlying digital voice architecture on the RF interface is not designed for IP data. IP itself is not a very suited scheme for RF connections, this is why two wa...

Re: Speculations on what Archos will show at CES

The ISP I worked for only throttled over cap traffic, and non-specifically. They just provide a pipe. They are primarily Fixed Wireless (I have solid 7.5Mbps down 1Mbps up and 20ms), DSl and Fibre. Not mobile

Re: Speculations on what Archos will show at CES

The digital voice on GSM, CDMA and 3G is designed for those RF systems, they use native codecs with almost no overhead. VOIP is in IP. EVDO, EDGE(GSM) and HSPA(3G) are afterthought bolt on protocols that run IP on the Air Interface. IP is inefficient on Mobile except for WiMax and LTE which are IP /...

Is it normally accessible or has a disk error revealed it?

Re: Speculations on what Archos will show at CES

A VOIP only phone is not feasible on GSM or 3G, (EDGE or HSDA). It may be feasible on LTE, but only 20MHz channels, not 5MHz Channels. This is because VOIP uses up to 10 times the data of gsm or 3G voice call and data is subsidized by voice calls at 100:1 to 350:1 depending on network see http://www...

on connecting the 160G A605WiFi, via USB to XP, XP insisted on automatically doing a chkdsk. (this was on 3rd Nov 2009.
