Hi there. I have A5ITA w/8GB. can I force it to record to an SD card by default? Or do I have to make sure there's space on internal memory before recording?
Thanks for your help

Re: New unit, teething troubles or duff unit?
Hooray! I setup A5A/DVR to use new Freeview decoder as TV source, and successfully recorded repeat of Ideal last night!
Could this really be the end of my troubles? I really hope so.

OK, getting a bit fed up now. Programmed A5A to record Ideal last night; checked results this morning. Audio comes through fine, but no video!
I'm thinking it has to be something to do with the video source (Philips DVD player), so I have bought myself a cheap Freeview decoder and will try that ...

Re: New unit, teething troubles or duff unit?
I tried this, but it didn't fix the issue, still no "File Management" option
So connected it to my PC and deleted some files using PC file manager, then completed firmware download. I now have the "File Management" option!

To get back on topic, the replacement DVR station has arrived. I've set the output of my Philips DVD-R to RGB, PAL, 4:3. Can't see a setting to check DPI.
Video in to Archos set to RGB.
Tried a test recording yesterday, and so far seems OK. Will continue to monitor.

Re: Unable to delete files for A5ITA, 8GB
Registered device via wireless internet connection. Still no menu option to delete files. Connected A5ITA to PC and deleted some videos using file manager. Afterwards, successsfully completed firmware upgrade. I now have the menu option "File management", so I can delete files.

Unable to delete files for A5ITA, 8GB
I can't delete files, and I have only 60MB of space. I'm wondering if this is preventing the firmware update that I'm being prompted to download from completing. There is no delete file option in File Manager or under Video or Music menus.
Thanks for any help and suggestions.

Re: New unit, teething troubles or duff unit?
Em... you're still not quoting the settings, you're telling me what cables you use. The fact that you don't know the difference alarms me. It suggests that you've not adjusted any settings at all, on the Phillips or the Archos. Which might possibly explain everything. Or not?
Oops, misunderstood ...

Re: New unit, teething troubles or duff unit?
While you're waiting for your replacement, I just realised that you've only told us what it's like watching your recording on a TV. What's it like viewing your recording on the Archos itself?.

Re: New unit, teething troubles or duff unit?
You're probably right. I've arranged for Amazon to replace the DVR Station. We'll see if that makes any difference.
One thing I did notice though when I unplugged the DVR Station yesterday, was that the scart connector going to the TV was half out of the socket on the TV. As this is coming from the ...

Sorry if I wasn't clear sweetypie. But I don't understand how the DVR would affect the recoding on the Archos.
Isn't the DVR a passive device as far as the recording process goes?

You probably need to register with tvtv; go to their website http://www.tvtv.co.uk/tvtv/index.vm?lang=en to set up an account. If you still have the initial registration details and code that came with your Archos, you -may- still qualify for the 1 year free subscription to the TV Guide. If ...

Thanks for your reply. I am using SCART out from the Phillips DVD-R and SCART in on the TV, using the cables supplied with the Archos DVR Station.
