8. Is there ANY way that I could go back to a state before the patch (+patched bootloader)??? I feel a clean start could maybe remedy this.
Yep just put an official firmware file in the root directory of your original drive, disconnect and then follow the steps to "upgrade"

Morning All Happy to share, although not much to share :) 1) First time I did it was with a 160gb HDD. I was merely trying to prove it could be done. The way I did was to put on patched firmware 1.7.0.2, then replaced the HDD got to the recovery menu (power and volume up) and chose format disk. But ...

Nope .. you cannot replace the drive if you use official firmware. The current drive is unique to the unit.

Morning Drevil I have managed to do this on my Archos 7 (insert a HDD that was not native to the Archos) and it worked.
