Re: flash issue

Why would I ask? I don't care how it works, I would just want it to work. I'm just stating a fact: the Archos does not have have full Flash support. So obviously, not all Flash sites are going to work on the Archos. So it's not the websites' responsibility to transform to this Flash "standard&q...

Re: flash issue

What would you say is non-standard? It just sounds like you're blaming the websites instead of blaming Archos for not having full Flash support.

Re: And the DVR issues begin.....

Its common knowledge to anyone reading this forum that the firmware is still beta until they release a permanent one. But do you realize how many people make the purchase without reading through forums? They may look at some reviews on cnet or whatever, but I haven't seen any reviews state that the...

Yeah I take back what I said earlier about not feeding the fire. I'm actually enjoying the warmth it makes. Bring on the fuel!

Re: My Archos 5 just died

Kodiak nailed it. After it died, I left it plugged in for around an hour. During that entire hour I was hitting the power button, reset button etc. I called tech support and the lady was walking me through different steps. As I was about to ask them to RMA it, I hit the power button ones last time ...

Re: Censorship alive and well I see

I think Symbian devices might sell closer to a ratio of 100 to 1. I've said it before but here are some easy points: - Symbian devices don't do video (like real codecs, real resolutions, real bitrates) - Symbian devices don't do storage (out of 500 million or 1 billion Nokia devices shipped worldwi...

To the point where I'm actually going to set up a rival site where users can discuss Archos devices without the fear of censorship, personal attacks and bullying. Let's see how many people stick around here when a sensible alternative becomes available. I will come and visit your site mitchelln, be...

While the new Archos 5 glossy screen is more prone to fingerprints and smudge marks the nthe Archos 605 WiFi matte screen, it's still more viewable in direct sunlight and outdoors then the Archos 605 WiFi screen. The Archos 5 does look like a million bucks all the time. That smudge thing is overrat...

Gizmodo post

I was reading through Gizmodo today, and I saw a familiar face... I didn't have time to watch the whole video, but in the little time that I did watch, I probably had a chuckle or two. Read through some of the comments for a laugh. But some of my favorite lines from the video have to be: it has a br...

But they don't come with E-ink displays, and that's what the people want. I know I would definitely buy that E-ink display designed by Charbax. It let's me read AND watch a movie at the same time!

So this increased automatic firmware update functionality and the fact that everyone has to register at archos.com to get the browser plugin, I think that inceases the chance that we will get new awesome firmware features in the next few months like: - Google Android OS - VOIP using Skype and SIP -...

If you're wondering how many people will buy one, then maybe add more poll choices that say "Archos 5" and "none".

There go our posts...

But again, Android will not be supported by Archos. They spent time and money developing the new UI for the new Archos. Why would they all of a sudden think, "Hey that Charbax guy is a genius! We should put Android on our devices!"

Re: 5G question

The current unlocked Archos 5G with built-in HSDPA is priced at the usual unloked device price. Archos can't be competitive on that unlocked price for now, cause that is simply how that business works. Buying unlocked phones should be ridiculously expensive and its not sold through many resellers l...
