It would be interesting to see if the flash was locked on the TV+. Care to try and dump it?

I would be surprised if you could find a CF-SATA adapter though. I've only ever seen CF-PATA.

Re: 605 v1.7 Disk Image

This has been repeated multiple times, but apparently bares repeating, the only* way you can change out your harddrive is if you have jailbroken it.

* There is another possible way of using an expensive machine to overwrite the in-built serial number.

The best suggestion is to go back and read all the steps. You're missing things.

Re: AOS2 utility

So I've heard. They are running on a new chip, so I guess it is possible that they outsourced development of the firmware instead of adopting their old code. I could probably help out, but the problem is that I don't have any hardware, neither the APAD or the A7HT. So I doubt I would be that much he...

Check out openaos.org for a post which dm8tbr got 2.0 running without too much difficulty. If you are looking to develop that, I'm sure he could get you started.

Re: GFT3 (Stable v1.0) for archos605 wifi (Software Jailbrea

On gen5 (your 605) I'm pretty sure if the HDD dies without your device being jailbroken, you are out of luck. Although I'm always a fan of blowing things up, you might want to reconsider. Your device could be donated to openAOS so that we can look into the possibility of hardware hacks. If you do de...

Easy. You don't. That site is using code that does not have the necessary changes to run on the Archos hardware.

Re: Better with separate A5IT and A5IMT Open Development for

Especially since the plan is to get gen5 (605 HDD models) running using the same OE build system. Let's keep all Open Development in one forum. I think most of the devs won't actually come around if there is more than one place to check. I propose a tagging system similar to another forum I frequent...

Re: jailbreaking the archos players 5 and 7

Personally I think best is the dual-boot method. Follow the jailbreak guides, then install my dualboot .aos file. You must jailbreak first because that file is, of course, unsigned.

Re: Difference between aos-tools and archutil?

Most of those aren't files, but directories. It's unpacking the same stuff, just putting them in different places. Have a look around and you should probably figure it out.

Re: jailbreaking the archos players 5 and 7

Note that this is a pretty complex hack. The fact that it is as easy as it currently is marks quite an achievement. I doubt that, given the complexity of trying to script it, anybody is going to step up. Sometimes you just have to get your hands dirty and follow the 4 steps. If somebody isn't willin...
