Re: DVD ISOS on Archos 5
What you can't do, sadly, is have it play like a DVD does, with the main menu and all that. You have to figure out what each VOB file does and play them one by one. Sometimes a DVD will split a movie over multiple files, which is annoying. In that case you can select the option to play the whole fol...

I am so excited!
I'm someone with limited Linux experience. So this release won't really do anything for me, right?

Re: Handwriting recognition on Archos 9
It won't have "touch pack" which includes the Tablet Input panel. Which sucks. But you can get 3rd Party programs that do exactly the same thing.
However, if Windows7 Starter doesn't have tablet features... it is kinda crippled, as far as I'm concerned. I use penflicks and ink in Office all the time.

Re: What do YOU use/do to transfer files to your Archos 5?
I use GoodSync. while it is not free, like Sync Toy, I find it more robust. You can set it to sync upon connection.
Plus it handles back ups for all my home computers.
I really wish you could share folders on the Archos 5 over the network! That would make my life so much easier!

Archos vs. Apple
Do you think Archos knew something we didn't? If the rumours are to be believed, on September 7 Apple is going to announce their new tablet, which superficially seems (again, based on rumours) similar to the Archos 9. There's even a report that Apple's rethinking things based on comparisons in perfo...

Re: New ideas to implement
I think there is a ctrl+alt+del button. Are you serious? That's just funny because of Microsoft's OS, Archos dedicated a button for it. :p That's standard on Tablet PC's. I'm a tablet enthusiast, soI'm pretty excited about the Archos 9. Windows 7 is great for tablets. I would like your idea...

Re: Is my mini dock broken?
There's a bunch of posts about similar mini-sock problems. There's one or two things that could be simple solutions to your problem, but I had to send my mini-dock back to be exchanged for a new one, which has worked great. That's probably what you'll have to do, too.

Re: Archos 5 Recording from Xbox 360??
Yeah I was recording the output of my Xbox 360. With the Archos output displayed on my big screen TV. Wow! That's awesome. Mine didn't work like that, so I sent it back. Maybe there' some that support it, and some that don't? Anyway, good to know that it is possible. There was quite a bit of debate...

Re: Archos 5 Recording from Xbox 360??
As I said above (months ago) you can't record on your Archos 5 and watch the same source on your TV. Archos made it so that it is one or the other. Which sucks.

Re: component signal.. very poor ..
I (and it seems others) had what sounds like exactly the same problem except with the minidock. I sent it back and was sent a new one which works great. There's very little that can be done to fix problems like this at home. There's not many settings you can play with or controls you can adjust. May...

Re: ┬┐UPnP????
You need to a program that acts as a UPNP media server. You can use Windows Media Player (whatever numbered version comes with Vista or higher) or another program. TVersity is the one that I use. Then you have to have your files properly shared. It can be very complicated to set up the first time. B...

Re: ┬┐UPnP????
Are you trying to access media on your Archos through your computer? I think it only works the other way around, I don't think the Archos has a UPNP server. I am able to access my computer's media on my Archos, but not my Archos media on my computer. I feel like I have made things a hundred times mo...
