Re: Moldy Cheese for 4 GB and 160 GB 605s

Hey, thanks CheBuzz for the instruction, and archilles for the BrickMaker, that seemed to do the trick. I now have a file called flash.dump. To big to load it on this page though. What next?

Re: Moldy Cheese for 4 GB and 160 GB 605s

@CheBuzz I did try the BrickMaker that archilles released but i am not sure how to use it. Where is this executable? I would presume that the code is safe that you have used it yourself, that it is designed to read and dump the flash, not really sure about the "if you trust me?". I would like to ass...

"If somebody would be able to dump their flash, I could find out for sure."
I will dump my flash, how is it done, please explain. Is there a specific way this is to be done? Is it a command through the GFT, some utility that i need, a program to be downloaded?

Re: Moldy Cheese for 4 GB and 160 GB 605s

I have been trying to get this done, i did apply moldy cheese to my a605flash model. It did not work however, it was thrown into recovery mode, code 105. From there it was just a matter of putting my original firmware back in and it was back to normal. I am not experienced with hacking, but i am pre...

Re: An ultimatum for archos

Any chance that someone can explain how to use BrickMaker, perhaps a 'step by step' to read the flash of the a605f so the moldy cheese can be modified for it? How about a read out of mtab through qtopia? Does that help at all?

Re: be wary of firmware 1.7.13

Thanks for your input generic_username. Still can not shake the suspicion that there are some hooked firmwares out there, i hope this helps though; I was still having the same problem, after poking around in the hacking posts i came across this: "hey guys this "1;/mnt/data/openpma-ng.sh" didnt work....

Re: be wary of firmware 1.7.13

Thanks again, swapeasy. Can anyone confirm that the firmware has been tampered with? It says 1.7.13, however the gft does not work. It does however make the openpma.pdf in the info folder, it just is not launching Qtopia. Any help out there, or have i truly been snookered by archos?

Re: be wary of firmware 1.7.13

Thanks very much for your efforts, swapeasy. I imagine as my 605 is the 4 gb model that this firmware is for the 80 gb model and will not work for me. Though i hope it does help anyone else with the 80 gb model. After some hunting around i found my copy of the firmware 1.7.13, which gft did work wit...

be wary of firmware 1.7.13

I downloaded the firmware from softpedia. After recovery, while it still says that it is 1.7.13 my gft does not seem to work anymore. I hope this has not caught anyone else up. I would not trust the archos site downloads either. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it something i am missing? Will th...

Re: help.. step-by-step guide to install "moldy cheese"

I can not figure out how to read/dump the flash on my 605 4gb, none of the current Moldy Cheese will run on my player (i reboot and get recovery code 105, i re-install the origial 1.7.13 firmware and all is normal again). Could someone either explain further how the moldy cheese needs to be modified...

Re: i give you: moldy cheese

Has anyone gotten this moldy cheese to work on the 4gb flash model of the 605 line yet? Or does it still require further moldy-fications? Er, i mean modifications? What about the 705 models, will it also work on them? I am looking forward to trying this out but do not want to brick anything. Glad so...

Re: i give you: moldy cheese

"2) dump your 605f flash and upload them so we can get those devices too.*", archilles. In an effort not to brick my unit i have not done this because i do not understand how it is done. "i don't have a 605 flash so it doesn't work on that either, yet possible source is included and i could help som...

Re: i give you: moldy cheese

I am not sure if it was noted (by Logik) that i have a 605 FLASH model, it also states that this hack will brick my unit. According to Grond i have to read out my bootloader, is that with the brickmaker? Is this done from a pc using linux or from Qtopia? Has anyone got this working on their archos 6...
