mine did the same thing when my battery finally bit the dust. It would stay on for a sec.. trying to load the hd, then the screen would dim.. then shut off. Eventually it wouldn't come on at all.

I replaced the battery and all is fine now.

Nobody uses GPS outside of cars.

I have to respectfully disagree.. I use my garmin on my mountain bike anytime I go out. I also use it when I go geocaching. Pilots also utilize gps in their flight cockpits. Gps chips are also starting to be implemented in cell phones so essentially gps is used ...
