Re: Gen5 Devices - Forgotten?

250MHz and 128mb of RAM (remember that you don't have to apart 25mb for the DSP if you can run your own kernel) is plenty of power to do lots of interesting things. I agree...I have a windows mobile phone that has half the processing power and only 22 MB of available RAM (if i am super lucky) , and...

Re: NOW IT CAN BE TOLD!!!

@ L0wt3ch: Personally, I feel it is great that you posted that bit of history to the forums. @all: It is just such a pity that even through all that the A605 and A604, and models like those, never saw significant 'homebrew' running. I do have to give great credit, however, to Sideways for providing ...

Re: Entertainment OUR Way

Yes, but if I understand correctly from Grond and others on this forum, it isnt that archos changed the addresses to the BootFlash, but more rather they locked it such that you can't run an update on the bootflash (or any change for that matter) without the correct permissions being assigned that wi...

Re: i give you: moldy cheese

upgrading is a NO NO! If you upgrade, you lose the hack, and possibly the potential to ever run it again.

UPGRADING WILL NOT BENEFIT YOU! IT WILL ONLY ELIMINATE THE HACK!!!!

Re: i give you: moldy cheese

There is no known way of downgrading fully as of yet...

I ask for you to read the WiKi which is in the Thread on the top of the Hacking Page...there is a lot of good data there that would assist you and save yourself from posting questions that can easily be answered. Thank You.

Re: be wary of firmware 1.7.13

Thank you for the upload of what should be the 'original' 1.7.13 (if what rusty says is true). Much appreciated by myself and probably by those others looking for it.

BTW: MoldyCheese v2 stable doesn't have any bugs besides the sound bar (as far as i can tell), I would recommend installing it :)

Re: i give you: moldy cheese

I understand you are new, but the fact has be mentioned multiple times: MOLDY CHEESE does not yet work on any other firmware of Archos 605 than the 1.7.13 firmware. Sorry for all those who have higher, but maybe Archilles will one day release a hack for that too...or someone will find an exploit...

Re: WARNING: do NOT update to 1.7.02 firmware!

Archos just makes the error appear so that the dumber end-users actually believe it...They are just afraid of Archilles and the exploits he has already found. They prevent downgrades to prevent hackers...

Re: i give you: moldy cheese

I would just like to mention my experience updating to the "stable" version of Moldy Cheese: It is infact stable (as far as I can tell) in the sense that it WILL connect VIA USB, congrats Archilles on figuring it out and thank you for all the time you are putting into these hacks! After i applied th...

Re: help.. step-by-step guide to install "moldy cheese"

I believe Archilles mentioned (as did I in the step-by-step) that the MoldyCheese hack does not yet work on the FLASH models only the ones that can ONLY use HDD (no flash). I would talk to archilles about going about finding a way to figure out this issue and get the hack working on your model!

Thank you both... I did not realize the file was still on the Archos Site! (Hopefully this is of use to other people later on...)

'Trustable' Upload of the 1.7.13 FW (605 WiFi)

Would it be possible for someone to make a upload that users (like myself) who have misplaced (or more rather lost entirely) their copy of the beloved 1.7.13 FW (for 605 WiFi) could download?

Thank You

Re: help.. step-by-step guide to install "moldy cheese"

After installing, you can just install the 1.7.13 aos update file like normal....That will eliminate Moldy Cheese....MAKE SURE IT IS 1.7.13 AND NOT HIGHER OR YOU WILL BE SORRY!!!

Permanent Installations of Older Hacks

So now that Archilles has released a hack for the 605 Units that have 1.7.13 FW, is it possible (on those hacked units) to permanently install Q-Topia or the Scribble app (the ones that already exist that ran through GFT)? If not now, is this a possibility for the future (pre-custom-distro, because ...

Re: help.. step-by-step guide to install "moldy cheese"

its very simple. Archilles just spends the beginning describing HOW his file works. The method is at the bottom (below the download)...basically: Prerequisites: -A non-160 GB (or greater) Archos 605 -Firmware no greater or less than (so exactly:) 1.7.13 -BACKUP YOUR DATA (Archilles has stated that c...

Re: i give you: moldy cheese

Archilles...I just tried pluggin my Archos 605 Wifi 30GB unit into my computer through the DVR Station/Dock with the power plugged in, through the smaller USB attachment, and on my computer it comes up as Drive L:, but there is NOTHING inside of that drive. It seems it still cannot read the HDD on m...
