Re: 605 v1.7 Disk Image

Replacing the system partition may give you access to 1.7.13 hacks, but it won't make the flash writeable, or will it? My understanding is that the read-only switch on the flash gets thrown fairly early on in the boot sequence with firmware > 2.0. So, if I understanding correctly, reverting to 1.7....

Re: Success Upgrading Archos 504 40gb to 160gb from Woot

1) that answers your question about the magic I believe? That's correct. You are really very good in reverse engineering and you are very tallented man then. CheBuzz is not lying, the UNIT, VERS, TIME, etc. blocks on the listing are real blocks after decryption. Ok then, you don't want to share you...

Re: Success Upgrading Archos 504 40gb to 160gb from Woot

A days of work...wow! read the flash, disasm the code, reverse the alghoritm, then write the tool and decode file. You are the god for me CheBuzz. :P You must be very good in assembler reverse engineering - CheBuzz, so i have a very simple question that you must know (if you did what you are saying)...

So... you've decrypted the aos file, maybe you could share it with us, please?

And you must have flash image too...

Re: Success Upgrading Archos 504 40gb to 160gb from Woot

I think it is hidden in the aos file, encrypted somwhere. But decrypting alghoritm is not that simple to reverse, especially when it bases on the data from the flash. It's a modified AES.

There is no any advice other than i gave. The "Media Failed" message appears because it can't find the Archos USB key for replacing disk.

Re: 204 harddrive recovery

I don't know what kind of the drive is in 204, but if it's ZIF you must have ZIF to 2,5'' 44 pin IDE convertor, look on ebay. Then you must take out your disk and connect it to the laptop. Using some sort of linux live cd or USB edition, you will be able to copy the content on USB storage drive or b...

Re: HDD_Recovery_2

I'm not sure 100% now. I may be wrong about formatting, maybe it could help. USB option is for the Archos usb stick device which reencrypt new serial number of the new HDD in flash, without formatting it. Second from what i remember is for formatting new disk with USB device sticked. But that was a ...

Re: HDD_Recovery_2

Click format disk. Once it does that DO NO TOUCH ANYTHING ON THE ARCHOS. Plug the archos into your pc. Your pc should be able to see it as a hard drive. Download the firmware from here. It won't help. HDD Recovery 2 Mode is used by Archos for replacing HDD. I'm afraid that you have HDD damaged or m...

Re: Dismantle 605 Wifi 30G

So are you still actively looking into all this? Unfortunately, no. Sometimes i look here too see if something happened, but i'm not in Archos community now i think. Simply it's not worth my time (i dont have it much). I've bought OQO and i can install whatever i want, i do with it many many things...

How do you know that? You and a few other people with "power" are not the only one who know such things You know reverse engineering of the file cpio.secure. I don't want to boast but i was the first person who have discovered some small things :->, it was before GFT, see my posts: http:/...

Archos company?

Image of that stick won't help without special USB storage with specific VENDOR_ID and PRODUCT_ID (V_ID of course is Archos).

He told me that TOMORROW will be firmware 4.5.19-b. It will have flash player 11 support, Opera 10, Google Android, Java, Skype (there is no microphone but who cares) and M$ Office 2007 Embedded :P. It wont hang anymore and of course it will be loud as hell...

Re: rebuying 605 - 4gb or 30gb?

I've had the 4GB version. I'm doing exactly opposite exchange. Mostly because of the firmware (2.1.04 is not hackable), but that is mine problem. The 605Wifi 4GB has one annoying difference comparing to the disk models. The internal memory is sloooow when writing things, something about 2 or 3 Megab...

One more thing - question to suRRendeR. How did you connect your converter to PC without changing a plug or without female/female straight serial cable??? The RS232 in PC and the plug of the converter are both male. Edit: I apologize... I think i lost my ability to read... You wrote of course that t...
