Thanks. I was aware of this site. I believe it is run by someone who is on this forum. The prices look lower than what I recall seeing previously and very reasonable based on what actual hard drives cost.

Unfortunately it is still more than I would want to pay on something thats now 4-5 years old ...

I know this topic has been covered a lot in the 605 and open development. I have trawled through a lot of those posts but I have not been able to find the answer to my question. I would really appreciate it if someone would be able to answer or point me to the right thread.

Its true. I have destroyed my battery by leaving the player on the DVR while I went away for a couple of weeks. The battery was fried when I came back. If you do a forum search you will find many many many other people with the same problem.

I don't think leaving it on once in a while all day while ...

If someone else has experienced issues with their buttons after extended use, it would be great to hear from you even if you have no solution.

After years of use, I find the more commonly used buttons on my 605 e.g. the x, ok etc. gradually become more and more difficult to use until they stop working altogether. I too ordered the battery from newmp3technology.com and managed to replace the battery using the instructions from this thread (and the links provided) having no prior experience in such matters. Thanks to all the providers! Now if only there was a way to fix / replace the buttons ...

hmmm. I don't know if that is good or bad.

I got my new 80 GB 605 today as well. Plugged in via USB b/w 12pm - 1pm - its now 9pm and its still charging ...

Also, I managed to connect it to my home network, but when I go to the file manager and try to access the drives, it asks for a name and password, which I never enabled. How do I set it to not have this feature enabled?
