Re: help downgrading A7 160

Go to a terminal, run "sudo nautilus" (assuming you're running Ubuntu). Enter your password, and in the file manager that opens, you should be able to move the files.

Re: Can anyone help with How to downgrade the Archos 5 firmware?

Make sure that file is in the same directory. If it is, try doing
aos-unpack ./firmware_archos5-7-1.6.53.aos

Re: Curious now - post moldy cheeze

So playlists can automatically pause the music when I need to cross the street? Playlists can go to the beginning of the track when my headphones fell out of my ear and I missed the beginning of my favorite song?

Re: Gen 5 Davinci UART0 Pinout ?

I don't think it should harm the device. After all, if you put your camera through the x-ray machine at the airport, you're exposing it to significant amounts of radiation, but it still works.

Re: An ultimatum for archos

Think about it from Archos' point of view: If they open up the hardware, they've spent time and money to do something they don't want to do, and it's going to happen earlier than your ultimatum. On the other hand, if they wait until Dec 1, they get to wait longer for the device to be opened up, they...

Re: Possible Exploits?

I can answer one of your questions, namely when you set the archos to PC HDD mode (or any of the options) is it doing an internal function to ensure that only /data/ gets sent to the computer? or is it sending a signal to the DVR station to prevent root access? The archos only tells the computer abo...

Re: 605 v1.7 Disk Image

What happens when you put 1.7 on the hard disk, then run the repair tool? Does 1.7 go to the flash, or does 2.x go to the HDD?

Re: Something New (i guess, i dont reallly know tho)?

It's probably not a separate firmware; rather, AVOS is started with specific flags that prevent it from entering any of the menus.

CheBuzz if this is real (and I think it is), you're a beast.

Can you PM me with more details about the hack, or at least answer two questions?

Did you need to use a hardware hack to read the flash, or was it accessible through hardware?

Is the flash writeable through the same method?

If you open the cable, it's quite possible that the cables have come loose. You can resolder these with a basic soldering iron and a little bit of skill.

Re: Archos 605wifi hacked (604wifi too probably)

I don't think that it was poorly soldered, I think the process of removing the chip got the balls to stick to the board or the chip rather arbitrarily.
