I can't get h.264 files to code correctly for my Archos 504 using Nero Recode (choppy pics). I don't check the CABAC box and put "0" in B frames box. With no CABAC and B frames, I still get choppy video with Nero Recode. What specific settings do you guys use to code h.264 with Nero Recode2 software...

Like c4manceph said, for the Archos to show you the videos in the default thumbnail view, they need to be right inside of the Video folder, it does not show subfolders. If your videos are in the subfolders then you can access them though the file "Browser" function like you've already done. Or you ...

Sony PSP MP4 Files Don't Show up in "Video" File..

The Sony PSP H264 MP4 video files don't show up in the "Video" File portion of my Archos 504. They ONLY show up in the "Browser" File (where they play fine when started up from there). HOW CAN I GET MY SONY PSP MP4 FILES TO BE RECOGNIZED UNDER THE "Video" file (and not only in the "Browser" file)???...

But removing the black bars is generally a good idea if you can, otherwise you lose precious bitrate by encoding blackness! As far as I'm aware, most encoding progs can crop the black from a frame. But if you crop the video, the movie goes vertically stretched. I guess there's no easy way to get a ...

Horses for courses.

I have a Divx DVD player. Thusly, Xvid format will play on all of my existing devices (TV, 'puter, Archos 504, Meizu M6).

I don't need to put movies in my Xbox360 since I have a DVD player for that, coupled with a bunch of DVD-RWs.

Is there any way to get rid of the black bars when you encode "Lord of the Rings" for instance?

I use 480x272 and 16:9 for encoding.

What am I doing wrong?.........

P.S. Does it make a difference using 128kbps instead of 64kbps for sound? And 48KHz instead of 44.1KHz for sound?

Video Conversion -- Audio Sync Issues

The audio of my videos always seems to be out of sync as of late. When I had my PSP, PSP Video 9 Synced up fine with audio/video. Now, not any more. The same goes for any MP4 conversion software I use with my 504 (I've downloaded many in the past few days). Is there any advice on how to correct this...

I use my Sony PSP power brick to recharge my 504 thru the dock. It's 5v/2A. It powers my battery a lot faster than the USB port. Most people have power supplies around the house that could do the job and emulate the expensive accessory Archos offers. Just make sure you know what you're doing....
