Re: Archos 101 vs. Notion Ink Adam

NotionInk have just posted that the CE certification is on track just like FCC in North America, and it should be available in Europe in the same time-frame.

Re: Archos 101 vs. Notion Ink Adam

I have been following the ADAM for a while and they have made claims in the past that never held up. They had a no later than July 1 date a while back. They guaranteed it would be out then. I think the Adam is going to be great, if it comes out. But, that is a big if. How is it a "big if"? They've ...

Re: Archos 101 vs. Notion Ink Adam

What a bunch of nonsense everywhere... By the time its out (probably at least Feb) it'll just be one of the bunch of Tegra 2 tablets rolling out. They're still on target for December release, and guess what - stuffing a Tegra 2 into a tablet doesn't make it a contender. Look at Viewsonic G-tablet et...

Re: bulging battery

No, it's not overcharging - a friend of mine bought a brand new 404 last year and it didn't last a month before the battery popped the back open. She brought it to me and we ordered a spare off eBay. I replaced it for her (look at detailed instructions in other threads) and it has been working perfe...

Re: Archos launches Android product

I'm not sure about this... as many on Engadget have commented, Archos has a less then stellar track record with support for previous generations of hardware (basically, none of their products ever fully worked as they were supposed to), so jumping into this whole new direction, even though it might ...

Re: Prefering netbooks

I think you have several things backwards, or you're simply being narrow minded, Charbax. Netbooks will hardly ever replace full-sized laptops, and no one is working against that. Yes, there are limits being set, like the 160GB limit, but it's hardly something that will prevent further development a...

I've been following the news on it religiously for weeks now... including the recent drama on launch. MSI Shop's software couldn't handle all the purchase attempts, and all hell broke loose. Right now, all deliveries are delayed at least until the end of June, and there's no word on actual availabil...

The 6-cell version has been announced in the shop for $499. It's unclear, however, how battery and Atom shortages will effect the pricing and availability.

I'm thinking of getting the MSI Wind... it's also Atom based, perhaps you could make this an "Atom-based netbooks" thread instead, mitchelln?

These bad boys are so close in terms of specs and prices, it's all in details in the end.

I was *this* close to getting one, mitchelln. It's indeed the best bang for a buck in a portable device out there. I just realized the size doesn't bother me, so I'll be going with one of the $400 10" netbooks... :)

Yeah, the 404 is definitely worth saving... if only they could fix it so it doesn't crash when using subtitles, it would be the perfect little gizmo.

@ETM: I would think that this should work, since many external HDs get there power off the dock...so it should be enought power to also use speakers... I didn't want to start a thread, so here's a question: I've seen small, 1W RMS speakers with a 3.5mm jack and USB power advertised, but I was wondering - if I were to connect it to the USB slot on the Archos docking adapter, would it provide power to the speakers? I thought it would be a nice semi-p...
