Re: Removing Sound recorder app from archos 5it firmware. Ho
Ok. I did that. The problem was with head in bitmapfs.cramfs.secure, when i was trying to repack. So I didn't unpack bitmapfs.cramfs.secure at all, only androidroot.cramfs.secure. I repacked it by typing -f (force) in command aos-repack digest. So finally I did my own aos without soundrecorder, bro...

Re: Removing Sound recorder app from archos 5it firmware. Ho
aos-repack and aos-fix aren't in your PATH. You might want to do a normal "su" to become root, then adjust the PATH variable. If you are in the same directory as aos-repack and aos-fix, you could just do "export PATH=$PATH:." If they are in a different directory, just replace the dot "." with the pa...

Re: Removing Sound recorder app from archos 5it firmware. Ho
But there is a problem. I cannot change anything in this mounted file, becouse it is read only. I found SoundRecorder.apk in system/app folder, but I can't delete it. does anybody know how can I edit that file? You need the cramfs-tools to extract the cramfs (split it up into a directory tree full ...

Re: GFT3 (Stable v1.0) for archos605 wifi (Software Jailbrea
No, it doesn't because it is only a software jailbreak which cannot change the bootloader which does the harddisk locking bit.eddie32818 wrote:Does the GFT3 hack remove the hard drive authentication, thus allowing problem-free upgrades?

Re: GFT3 (Stable v1.0) for archos605 wifi (Software Jailbrea
can gft3 be used on the archos tv+ 80gb pvr... I think chances are good that it will work because the tv+ and the 605 have very similar, if not identical, hardware and firmwares. Just try and let people know about your results. Most probably nobody has ever tried because the tv+ is a very rare devi...

Hm, are you sure you haven't accidentally mistaken the "Archos 5 IT" for the "Archos 5 IMT" when buying the plugin?kumetix wrote:Well what do u know, I ended up paying good money for the plugin just to get eventually "Error : This file was not created for your Archos Portable player"

Re: How to open an A7 - Possible to a CF to 2.5 SATA adapter
Has anyone used a Compact Flash to SATA adapter. Could this work? I remember somebody did that with an Archos PMA. The only difference was the harddisk standard which was some small-form-factor IDE breed IIRC. I don't know whether the specific Compact Flash adaptor would work in an A5 but generally...

Re: Archos 5 IMT 250GB: HDD Upgrade / Hack / Dual Boot
I have an Archos 5 IMT 250GB (currently running official firmware v1.7.11) and I think that my hard disc is on its way out... I have had the dreaded "FAT32" errors and although I have reformatted my Archos and got things working again, I think I am living on borrowed time. There is no need to worry...

Re: Archos 5 (not the Internet Tablet) with Android
The lack of a flash disk (256M in the A5IT IIRC) is a major problem because you either have to put frequently used system files into the already very limited amount of RAM or you have to make the harddisk spin / spin up all the time.satscan wrote:Are there any other reasons or limitations that I'm missing?

Re: How to open an A7
When I've left only one line in boot.lst (and this line is for AVOS) - AVOS is booting just after logo without showing boot selection menu, just like no boot selection available at all. So for user it looks just like original unit - exept for SDE logo at booting. But remember that all will be f*cke...

Re: How to open an A7
Now I have no idea how to get rid from dualboot and get working AVOS at the same time. :? Unless you want to go and rebuild the initramfs. You can't. Even then the Boot Logo won't go away. Hm, I'm not sure but it is possible that avos will be booted immediately if there is no other option in menu.l...

We've only heard one side thus far No, we have heard all sides before. He just keeps ignoring the facts that don't fit his version. E.g. the fact that from day 1 we said that we would never do anything that could hurt Archos business and that this precisely was the reason to not publish the bootloa...
