Archos9 and video playback; explanations

The Intel Menlow chipset used on the ARCHOS 9 PCTablet comes from a strategy of reducing power consumption in the x86 platform to respond to the needs of mobile use. For this, two principal routes were taken. - The inherent reduction in power consumption of 45nm silicon designs - A change in what is...

Re: List of Bluetooth tethering phones that work

Errrmm... the iPhone does support BT PAN as of OS 3.0 - http://www.apple.com/iphone/iphone-3gs/tethering.html Has anyone tried it? Yes, this is correct. But the feature is locked by software until you decide to pay special extra fees to your phone operator. This is the case when you have a contratc...

Re: Firmware 1.1.01 - report stability/bugs in here

Correct about the GPS, there is no subscribtion fee of any kind. You buy the software licence as you would do for any other software and it is yours, today or in 10 years.

Archos Staff - I wish you'd have made that reply yesterday, when you were specifically asked by Charbax for clarification. :x Do I understand correctly, or do we now have a video of Chippy demonstrating precisely how not to do it, but was based on the interpretation of your post yesterday. #-o You'...

Re: Firmware 1.1.01 - report stability/bugs in here

Hi Jaffer, I think you comng here frequently is actually a good thing because at least we can rely on your expert knowledge. My question for you is: For some of us who have yet to receive our devices, when we do get them with regards to firmware upgrades, do we bother with the last 3 firmwares or g...

Re: Firmware 1.1.01 - report stability/bugs in here

On this unit there are two parts that do not interfere one with the other. The OS part and the multimedia part. So doing a reset of the Android part only is equal to a fresh install without wiping oout the multimedia content.

The video Charbax posted is good for the A5 Gen6, not for this one.

Re: New Firmware 1.1.01

I would rather advise you to start from a fresh install with this firmware update. It should help in solving some of the unstability issues you may have encountered with the previous release. So do you recommend that the user first go in the recovery mode and format the whole storage (make a backup...

Instructions to install the GPS for 605 on the Archos5

First of all, be aware that the GPS accessory cannot have already been installed on another ARCHOS device. Your ARCHOS 5 needs first to be registered in an ARCHOS account. To install the Gen 5 version (white box) GPS accessory on your ARCHOS 5, proceed as follows: 1. Update the firmware of the ARCHO...

Re: Interesting FAQ with the 10 at the Archos site...

Intersting, but grrrrrrrrrr........ Why does my hard drive show less than 160GB when I look at its properties? Part of the space on the hard drive is used for the hidden restoration partition. That is, in the case that you need to restore your ARCHOS completely to its original factory state, the AR...

Re: Installing OSX on it

Jaffar, last time we met in Paris, I had with me my OLPC XO-1 B4 unit runing Sugar Linux based on Fedora. You told me though that you didn't have time to see it, you had already seen it or something. I run Ubuntu on my main desktop here in Copenhagen, I do have Windows XP though on one laptop, that...
