Theres a $60 discount for MySpace users in the Archos website but only for the 30GB.

Ok so first log in to myspace then go to http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=233085780 .

Then go down and click on the picture of the Archos.



Preferably I would love a discount on the 160GB

is the discount applied at checkout?
its not working for me on step one after i type it in and click "ok".

I also notice that once you click on ADD TO BASKET, and then you go back and then click on it again, then it gives you $120 off, and if you go back and do it again is $180 off, and on.... And if one of you is going to try and buy more than one this way you should tell everyone else if it works. I'm just saving to buy the 605 160GB, so I didn't try it out.

Do you actually have to have a myspace account? Or can you just order by entering the Archos store "through" myspace?

I think that you need to be a registered Myspace user. It says something about "Limited offer, while stocks last", but I do think that Archos and resellers most probably have a little more margins to work with on the hard drive models compared with the $199 flash based model. Cause I don't think it really costs $100 more to put a 30GB hard drive instead of the 4GB flash memory, so I expect there will easilly be around $249 price campaigns for the 30GB and $50 cut also from the 80GB and 160GB models. Of course I am speculating here, but I think it would make sence.

and then clicking on ADD TO BASKET and then it shows the discount. So I guess you should try and go thru all the steps and see if the offer applies.

You don't need to go through Myspace. Just use the discount code mspace.

EDIT: I just discovered you do have to be logged in to myspace for the discount to show up.

Interesting how the archos.com website communicates with Myspace to activate that discount.. I guess this might be the first example of how Archos plans to do partnerships and campaigns with people like Myspace which aren't retailers themselves, so that Archos provides the shipping service to that partner that's doing the promotion and that may have also content available that could be a part of the Archos Content Portal.

For now Myspace video is using a version of Flash newer then the Flash 7 supported on the Archos today, but according to that old Archos roadmap document, Web 2.0 is definately part of the strategy, so maybe a special MySpace widget is in the works to provide easy one-click access to the complete MySpace in a customized PMP-friendly lower resolution quicker to load MySpace interface that's also user-friendly when used on the TV with a remote control. Although this discount seems to be also in partnership with the Producers Guild of America and FOX which certainly have a lot of content which could be part of the Archos Content Portal.

Has anyone gotten this to work? I logged into MySpace, then went to that page. I clicked the link and it brings up the Archos store. I added a 30GB to the basket, and there the discount showed up. So I went to enter my information, clicked Continue to get to the payment step, and the discount went to $0.00 according to the summary.

if youve only made one attempt i would suggest starting over and trying again.the same thing happened to me the first time i went through the myspace link.

i just cleared out my cart on the archos site and went back through on myspace.worked perfectly the second time.
