Is this "normal"?
The right side gets so hot that it's not really comfortable to touch.
I also cannot imagine that this positively affects the display, which also gets very hot.
If a notebook becomes very hot then it usually doesn't live very long. I assume it is not
different with a tablet...

In use not plugged in, it heats up. Not in use charging, it heats up.

extra hot when plugged in and in use. Makes sense to me.

Oh yes, every tablet ships with a few hundred grams of C4 and a detonator rigged to blow at 50C. Is that a problem? ;)

Sometimes. But it could happen only when they save on quality to cut the costs, so nothing to worry about here.

Haven't similar deaths by exploding gadgets been in some recent Spy movies?

I wouldn't oppose life to a movie.
It could get rather complicated.

If you can get serious burns off your tablet, I know I'll throw in $5 for pics!

i dont like when lithium batteries get hot during charging only. For the gods shake that doesnt mean that will explode(however when it gets really hot like burning remove the ac adaptor immediately!)but this mean that the battery isnt operating normally.
my nokias 6230 battery gets hot in charge and i noticed that the battery got expanded a while!(battery life is half as normal or even lower). In an old sony erricson (w510 i think) the battery got expanded twice as much and broke the phone's flap. Technical support told my cousin to put the phone somewhere outside cause this might explode !
But my k800i and psp3000 batteries never got hot.
Usually battery gets hot during overcharge(archos7 dont have a stopper when fully charged?) or during fast charge

but if all people archos7 batteries get hot during charging this is not a problem .I suggest making a poll to ask whether your bettery gets hot or not

I think it is "normal" that it gets so hot during charging when you use it at the same time.
It already gets warm during being used and when you charge at the same time then it gets really hot. It's not like burning hot but annoyingly hot. I bet if you place this thing on your crotch and only wear undies then you could injure yourself. Archos should really have a warning in their manual not to watch videos with the A7 laying on your crotch while being charged at the same time.

I guess Archos either figured you'd feel the heat and remove it before you got injured or Archos never even thought about it and no one at Archos ever did the "undie-crotch" test. I bet it's the latter.

But this is a handheld device. This means it is supposed to be held in the hand. Maybe they should have included a "don't touch, it's hot" sticker on the back of the A7, lol.
