Just an update on this. Ive switched back to Froyo 2.2 for now.

The main issues I found with the Gingerbread ROM, and one that caused me to give up on it, was the black screen after wake up. The device either took ages and ages to recover from the black screen, or worse still complete froze out and I had to do a reset using the button on the back.

Other than that it seems a pretty good ROM, although I got a feeling it was a little resource hungary over previous ROMs maybe?

Hi hvdwolf,
you are planning a new gingerbread. Very nice. Are there more details about this new gingerbread for your archos tablet? 8)

JDfense

It's going to be a slightly modified Daremos I think. I think the latest daremos roms with all the enhancements the xda team is developing on xda is nice, stable and nicely optimized: so when I use one of that roms I will give "the team" all the credits they deserve. I still want to have a look at the "soft" volume buttons that are missing in GB.
I also did a series of benchmark tests which I will share.

Hi there HVDWolf, is there an update on this yet? Ive used both your Froyo rom and the latest Gingerbread rom and i am very impressed!!
So im really looking forward to this new release from you.
Cheers
Colin :D

No. Not one Gingerbread or Cyanogenmod rom for RK2818 devices comes with soft volume buttons. You can download multiple volume widgets from the market. Just select the one that suits you best.
Or add a shortcut on your desktop to Settings->Volume. That can be done as well.

Congratulations hvdwolf, you have done it.

Now I might need to buy an archos 7'' to see the rom in action. :D

Well, for the previous Gingerbread roms I tested quite some things and did analyze some other/more things for and together with fun_ (naobsd).
In this case I simply copied the "daremos-stevemp-jdefense" rom, changed the mass-storage part, tweaked the "non-system apps" install script and made the 7HTV2 adaptations.
The progress made in this rom is thanks to you, stevemp and daremos.

My next goal is to make the arctools (for archos internet tablets) also work on our RK2818 tablets.
As an alternative I already made a script (to be run from Gscript(Lite) or script manager) that does install the google apps, but there is something not completely right and the launcher (any launcher) and the google setup manager (create account/sign in with account) struggle for "who is the boss" during startup.
Next to that: the script is by far not as user friendly as a nice app like actools is.

Hi all,

I built a another version 06 rom. The first one came without a calibration apk, but I find my tablet's screen working inaccurate so I made a rom with calibration.
Check the first post.

How do you get the extra manual calibration? With TScalibration?
Some people on our thread had a bad calibration too, even with the same tablet type. That is strange, but your feature could help.

Yes. It's Fun_'s TSCalibration.apk. Download one of Fun_'s system images or my update.img and copy it out of it and into your own system/app.
Simple as that.

Thanks, I put the hint in the tools and instruction part on our xda thread. I don't want to update about 10 roms.
I have no calibration problems with DaremoS gingerbread on odys genesis. I think darwin user could use that tool.

Hi Sleepy,

Do you not get the USB symbol in your notifications bar on your tablet??
If you do, you need to open the notifications bar (hold and drag down) then click on "USB Connected" then click on "Turn on USB Storage" before your PC will recognise your tablet.

Hope this helps! :o
