Hi, can anyone offer advice. I have a new Archos 9 when I update this takes around 5 hours, one update that is running now has been going for over an hour is this normal? Also I bought an upgrade from Windows 7 starter but when I go through windows upgrade anytime this again just goes on for hours is this normal? Thanks.

You need to one thing at a time.
First, make sure you have a reliable and fast connection to the internet.
Next, update Windows Starter before attempting the upgrade to any other level.
Select Windows update from the programs menu. This way you can see all the updates being attempted. You should be able to uncheck many and update in small chunks. The main problem could be a bad internet connection, though.

To update to a higher level, see if you can find a Win7 download or disc of the version purchased. Obviously a disc will require a remote DVD/CD drive. A better way is to load the OS onto a USB stick. I do not recall the method but it should be on this forum or on the internet somewhere. At least this method takes the network out of the equation.

Please be aware that a higher level of Win7 will not make the A9 faster. I will give some added touch screen features though.

Best of luck.
