Which is the best file size to use when converting movies for the AV500 to view on a 10" screen television?

I'm using the AONE AVI MPEG WMV 3GP MP4 iPod Converter which gives me a choice in the drop down menu of video file size specifically for the AV500. Usually for short music video clips I just convert to 480 x 320 but for feature length movies to view on television would I be better going for 720 x 480?

you may not need 720 on a 10in tv, depending on how far away you view. It certainly is advantageous on a large 32 or 40 in tv, so maybe future proof your rip by the largest resolution?, or try 480, 640, and 720 wide on a short complex scene and see how it looks?

Thanks Fredc

In that case then I think I will stick with 480 as most of the time it will be used to play through the 10in tv in my motorhome....plus it will give me a bit more space on the hard drive!

You seem to be the forums main 'tech support' on the AV500! I hope Archos appreciates you! ;)

I used to use a program called "iriveter" to create video files for the AV500. Seems like a lifetime ago. I seem to recall encoding to 480x276 to match the resolution. Worked well.
