This is what Archos say "Capacity: 2GB* Flash memory stores up to 2 movies2, 20,000 photos2 or 1,000 songs2
SD Card slot for additional memory up to 16 GB* (SD, mini SD and micro SD cards) "

Yes, I just tried that today and it works ok. Unfortunately the video seemed to freeze if I tried to FF or rewind very much. May have something to do with the transfer speed - I was using an 8gb key so I'd guess this may have been a bit slower than a smaller one.

I've had excellent results by sticking a 4gb SDHC card in a card reader and doing it this way though, both on the 405 & 605.

My new 605 WiFi (4gb) accepts a 16gb SDHC card. This was so prior to updating the firmware, and afterwards. 32gb SDHC cards are here, but not yet at reasonable prices.

My 405 refuses to work with a Kingston Elite Pro 8GB SD card.

Anyone know of any 8 or 16GB cards that do work?

Thanks.

That's what I was trying to start here..... http://forum.archosfans.com/viewtopic.php?t=12703

Might be a better way I s'pose... I just want to find a decent priced 16Gb SDHC card that works....

But whatever you do... just don't phone Archos....

Cheers,

Dave.

I gotta try the thumb drive Monday AM! I was told by Archos that it wouldn't host USB's?

Syked!
