Thanks to schism123 for posting this video:

http://archosfans.com/2007/08/11/double ... -firmware/

I think this might be the first step from Archos in improving the browser:

Which are the most obvious features to be added next?

- faster scrolling
- contextual menu (select text, copy/paste, save page, copy link..)
- shockwave flash
- embedded video (detection of URL to video wmv/divx/mov and plays it in full screen)
- usb keyboard

Way cool! As I've said in the forum, I'm leaving for a 7 month trip on Sept. 1, and have preordered the 160 from hotmp3gear. I really hope I get it in time.

Aside from being a phone, what is the advantage of an iphone over this? None that I can see.

The pain is converting all my cds to flac, and saving the flac while converting to mp3 (320). The tags never come out right.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead but I've just noticed that this doesn't work on my 605! I have the latest firmware and I've tried it on a couple of different sites to no avail. Any ideas?

Try tapping in the SAME empty spot on a web page slowly, sometimes I find if I tap too fast it doesn't zoom/unzoom. Also make sure your 2nd tap hits pretty much the same spot.

cheers but still no luck! Tried tapping fast and slow - in roughly and exactly the same spot - and using all three zoom types.

Anyone else having this problem?

How have you updated the firmware? For me, when i use the update feature on the 605, it downloaded and installed the "latest" firmware... so i thought. For some reason i didn't have the latest firmware. I went to archos.com and saw the latest firmware was NOT what i had on my 605. So i downloaded from the site, and copied it to the 605. On reboot, the very latest firmware installed, and then i could double-tap-zoom in the browser.

John

What the hell!? I updated my firmware to the latest one on the day I got the 605 but I thought I'd check to see if that could be the problem and sure enough - I was still on V2.02!! Stupid thing must not have worked last time.

Updated fine now and it looks a treat! Cheers John and everyone else!!
