Anyway, one of the features is if you click on "Info" on your remote while the title of the movie is selected, the software will automatically connect to IMDB and download in the background the movie's summary, rating, and coverart. This information is then stored permanently in your hard drive for easy access in the future. If you have lots of movie in your library, this is a cool and desirable feature.
This would be awesome! Part of this could be a strategy to create a new Archos movie database, where an MD5 hash could be generated in the background of the selected films, and that would provide accurate movie info, as well as provide statistics for how many people watch certain movies (if the user opts in to share their usage stats) as well as to provide especially movie recommendations, thus based on video files one have, one could rate a movie while watching it or after having watched it, and based on that info, Archos could provide movie recommendations in the Archos Content Portal or just generally, produce a list of suggested stuff one should look for.
As well as later this could be used to pay film makers based on a unlimited access membership.
The second cool feature of MediaPortal is "Trailers". That is, by clicking on this, the software will download movie trailers (whether new DVD releases or new theatrical releases) in the background and automatically display them within its interface.
Great feature also! What I'd like is a way for people to upload their video reviews to a site like Dailymotion or Youtube, and then one could watch those videos of people analysing the film or stuff like that. Rate those reviews and thus have automatically a recommendation to which review to check out. One could thus also watch the video reviews before choosing to watch the film that is selected. The TV+ and the 605 can record from an external camera, so there should be a driver to use any cheap usb webcam on the mini-dock or the DVR Station Gen5, and thus capture ones video reviews this way and upload them with a click of a button directly from the Archos to Dailymotion or Youtube. This video reviews would be the new type of IMDB reviews, just with video, thus suitable to watch on TV or on-the-go better than text is.
