77 broke the semi-tethering on BB 9700. 71 Said able to tether, 77 says not able to tether.
Re: Bluetooth tethering & AD-Hoc Wifi
Glad to hear that! Finally!jeremiah_mn wrote:FYI for G1 Users. I was not able to connect via bluetooth on my g1 using cyanogenmod, switched to dwang this morning and worded like a champ. Seems pretty fast, haven't had it long enough to say anything about stability. But it's tethering great now via bluetooth.
FYI, I also tested Cyanogen 4.2.14.1 and BT thethering worked. It has to be said that I just flashed cyan over dwang's ROM, so all the configuration was done already. Also there might have been bits and pieces left over that helped...
I still believe that any ROM that can succesfully run WT (has the necesary stuff) is OK, and that by switching to dwang you started clean and had better luck.
Just my 2 cents...

Re: Bluetooth tethering & AD-Hoc Wifi
Reported earlier that SonyEricsson p1i is working, sorry to report but it works extremely unreliably. On .77 it works even worse, almost never. Gone back to .71 and it works sometimes. Anytime i press tether in the phone connection manager i see a gprs modem connection come up, but it fails after that without any data exchanged.
I did a few "clear temporary data and cache" but didn't seem to do any difference. Also watched for running apps and always did a kill all before trying to tether but no difference. Anyway spend a lot of time trying to find any king of pattern in this behavior but failed. It's just random. Will try .33 later.
My phone supports DUN and PAN and seems to worked better before PAN support has introduced.
Ok just testing with .33 and tethering works just fine. I reflashed, clear temporary data and cache, and re-paired. And from then on it works just fine, tried switching BT on/off, rebooting A5A, works every time. If I remember correctly only if A5A goes to suspend you need to reconnect (no wake lock in this fw). Hope somebody from the dev team reads this.
And back to .77 and tethering basically doesn't work. Works in like 1 of 20 attempts. Did the same as before (reflashed, clear temporary data and cache, and re-paired). Under tethering protocol it read DUN!

Re: Bluetooth tethering & AD-Hoc Wifi
Success! Managed to connect my dinosaur nokia 6110 navigator. Using optus prepaid. Typing in the APN seemed to be what got it working. Using fw. 77.
However I only tried getting this working again cause my wifi connection was compromised but it's a compromise i can live with in this fw update

Re: Bluetooth tethering & AD-Hoc Wifi
I've been trying to get this working with my HTC Imagio.
I've made all the config file changes. Even installed the router cab DrEllisDee made, but it reports my phone out of range/doesn't detect it.
PC can pick it up and connect.
Lol edit:
Turned wifi off/on like 5 times and it finally picked it up and connected!

Re: Bluetooth tethering & AD-Hoc Wifi
For those T-Mobile G1 users...
I also was unsuccessful with tethering while I had Cyanogenmod's ROM, and I updated the ROM to "SuperDwang (superD) 1.2" and was able to finally see the phone in the list of potential tethering phones on the Archos. This ROM is a combination of Dwang 1.17.1 and Cyanogen's kernel, and it's REALLY SUPER FAST. The only down side i've found so far is the fact that it uses 10MB of memory from the graphics processor (which is why it's so fast), so if you use 3d games, you might not want to use this one.
When I was using Cyanogenmod's ROM, when I tried to pull up the list of phones for the phone ID in the tether screen, I saw NO phones, even though I was paired. Some notes for those trying it (applicable at least to those in the US on T-Mobile):
1. When you pair the phone, it will show as paired in the phone and the Archos, but it will not show connected, and in fact will do nothing if you TRY to connect from the normal bluetooth connection screen.
2. You do NOT need to specify a username/password unless you set one up in the tethering app on the phone.
3. I used epc.tmobile.com as my APN
4. before you select the phone in the bluetooth phone ID in the tether screen on the Archos, be sure to turn on tethering, or it will say, "G1 is not capable of tethering" and you'll have to REBOOT your Archos to try to connect again.
5. Be sure to click on the box on the archos to turn on tethering before trying to hit the internet.
Hope this helps! Huge relief getting tethering to finally work. And got a faster phone in the process

Re: Bluetooth tethering & AD-Hoc Wifi
I have a Sprint Touch Pro 2 - Running mightyrom war (WM6.5 + HTC 2.1).
My 5 IT is running firmware 1.7.77
My TP2 has the wifi adhoc sharing discussed at length.
I have used the adb to make the changes documented in the wiki here:
http://wiki.archosfans.com/index.php?ti ... n_with_WEP
Despite turning the wifi on and off - no adhoc wifi love.
Nor am I able to use bluetooth.
After making the changes - the line ap_scan=2 gets removed and the connection entry removes the wep_tx_keyidx=0 line.
I make the changes, push them to my 5IT reboot, enable wifi, disable wifi, and pull the files back. In this way, I see the changes made.
The Adhoc setting in tiwlan.ini sticks.
Of note - I do have the android market working thanks to an elegant APK.
Am I doing something wrong? Should I downgrade my firmware? Any suggestions appreciated. I'm very much an android novice.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Re: Bluetooth tethering & AD-Hoc Wifi
Hello,
I am working with an Lg Env3 (aka LG XV9200) I have the tethering option on the phone, and the Archos recognizes it as able to tether and allows me to attempt to connect but then says "unable to tether" after about 60 seconds of trying to connect when I turn the tether on.
I have tried inetgsm.vzw3g.com for the APN as well as username: myphone#@vzw3g.com with the PW vzw or with my 10 digit phone # as PW, I have tried this in all combinations as well as leaving the APN blank, with user/PW and no APN without User/PW
Verizon is incredibly unhelpful and will only tell me that they will not support tethering to another android device and continually refers me to download the vzaccess manager software to use tethering.
Any ideas or assistance would be great.
Thank you

Re: Bluetooth tethering & AD-Hoc Wifi
unfortunately, without the details needed for the tethering (APN, Username & Password), unless someone else has that exact same contract, I don't think we're gonna be able to help you. have you tried on a Verizon forum already?aopiehl wrote:Hello,

Re: Bluetooth tethering & AD-Hoc Wifi
I've tried checking the Verizon forums, unfortunately in this case they are about as helpful as Verizon's tech support. I was able to locate a couple of potential APNs and everyone states that the user/pw should be phone#@vzw3g.com/vzw or ph#
None of these combinations has been able to help. I was hoping that someone may have an idea that will mimic the vzaccess manager to allow a connection that way.

have you tried at xda-developers.com? they're a very knowledgeable community and it seems like there's a few similar discussions going on there,

that help you out at all?

Re: Bluetooth tethering & AD-Hoc Wifi
Unfortunately no, after going through there most of the information I had found elsewhere as well. As an update I am currently replying to this from my laptop using the LG VX9200 to connect through Verizon's VZaccessmanager using a mobile broadband connect plan and USB. I know the connection is good, and from what I understand being a CDMA network it requires no configuration for APN user or password. The system is dialing #777 from the modem SAP, SPAP, CHAP, MS-CHAP, and MS-CHAPv2 are enabled dial up server is PPP TCP/IP is all auto, and QOS scheduler is installed. Server address is 66.174.193.64 Hope this helps. Thank you
also when connected through USB the phone changes modes and displays Rx and Tx information where any time I have tried using it with the Bluetooth+Archos it never seems to change modes. I do not have a PC with bluetooth to test the connection there but the phone does recognize the Archos as another phone and not a PC, could this make a difference? Where could I find a way to force the phone or the archos into a specific BT profile?

Re: Bluetooth tethering & AD-Hoc Wifi
What software are you using on the phone to make an ADHoc network? I have found the HTC WiFi router on the WinMo phones is not working properly. They never actually create a connection to the WiFi. I have used WMWifiRouter's current version is the only thing I can get to work on any WinMo image, I have tried even the stock ROMS with no luck. Just give it a try and see what happens.Marble68 wrote:I have a Sprint Touch Pro 2 - Running mightyrom war (WM6.5 + HTC 2.1).

I'm using the stock WiFi.
I'm not tried wmwifirouter.com - they have a trial (I think) so I'll give it a shot tonight.

BlackBerry Bold 9700 with Orange (APN: orange no user no pass)
Tun on tether option is selectable after de-activating the encryption setting in the Bluetooth Option menu.
Says BlackBerry 9700 supports tethering but when trying to tether I receive "├ønable to connect by tethering"
.. using .77 (which is supposed not to work but .71 does)

Re: Bluetooth tethering & AD-Hoc Wifi
Maybe somebody can help me tether my Boost Mobile iDEN phone (i335).
I am on Archos FW 1.7.77. I can connect the phone to the A5A using BT. The DUN settings that I need to set up on the A5A are:
APN: [blank]
Username: [blank]
Password: [blank]
Dial Number: s=2
I cannot find anywhere to enter the dial number, so the DUN connection cannot be made. Archos tech support tells me that a dial number is not required, but evidently it is. Anyone have any success with Boost Mobile iDEN?
Regards,
Matt Bogdan

Re: Bluetooth tethering & AD-Hoc Wifi
Tried WMWifiRouter. No luck.
Also, have tried to enable bluetooth DUN - no luck there either.
Via registry hacks (located @ XDA-Developers) my 5IT sees DUN and tries to tether.
The phone sees this and I authorized it to go.
But the 5it quickly disconnects.
Rats...
