That's fantastic, I didn't know Asus did 5" netbooks! What model number is that please, I'd like to take a look at how they did the keyboard...

They make a 9" model with a smaller, but usable keyboard and a 20GB SSD....model 901... I've seen them sell for under $300, if you can still find one. They used to make a 7" one, but its about the same size as the 9" model. I picked up an extended life battery for it for $40 that adds some bulk, but I can take cross oceanic flights with it watching movies all the way, and still have enough juice to tether it to my Blackberry or 3G USB stick in the airport when I land. It has 802.11n, Bluetooth, and a webcam.

Until Archos or Google fixes the tethering that they promised would work on the box, my A5A is only useful occasionally.

Oh, OK. I thought it was the same or similar size to the A5A given your comparison. But yeah, Netbooks can do a lot, even if most of them still suck at HD video. Still, for general purpose computing, all that extra space for components and batteries, as well as a full PC OS, count for a lot.

so I assume this is the same as when using a laptop. so in theory, if you can tether it to your laptop the A5A should work right?

I ask this because I'm still old school with my phone. PocketPC 2003 edition. Hey, don't judge, even being a 2003, it kicks the iphone's butt, along with most other phones out there. sure, it doesn't have built in GPS, but back then nothing did.

Anyway, I have no problem tethering it to my laptop via USB or bluetooth. So I'd assume it shouldn't be a problem with my A5A once i get it right?

And if incase anyone asks, its technically known as the HTC Harrier on the XDA developers site, aka Sprint PPC-6600.

In my testing, I have yet to be able to get my A5A to tether to my laptop over BT (been trying for a couple of days). I have been able to get it to connect to my Win7 laptop using Connectify running in infrastructure WiFi however.

sorry, i said that wrong. I meant, if I can currently tether my phone to my laptop, in theory, I should be able to tether the same phone to my A5A the same way? so that the A5A would get the internet instead of my laptop.

In theory, yes. One of the really nice things about PPC2003 is that you still have the Bluetooth DUN profile available to you and ModemLink. Microsoft, in their infinite stupidity, removed the Bluetooth DUN profile from WinMo 5 and above.

I can confirm that the LG KP500 cookie works.

Also really cheap chinese CECT K630i (dual sim dual standby) works.
Only sim slot 1 (master slot) can be used for tethering.

should be able to source it online for less.

just wondering... since we have this list of phones that work? do we need a list of bluetooth headphones that work? or do all headsets work anyway and we don't have to worry about that? :?:

BT Headphones just work, for the most part.

Headsets (speaker+mic) either do not work or only work as headphones ATM.

Michael

EDIT: Headsets (speaker+mic) are tested and working on 1.7.33

Hi

Didn't wanted to open a separate thread. I'm on Vodafone India network and able to acess internet on my laptop via my Motorola ROKE E6 (added: over BT using DUN). But unable to do so by using A5A. The A5A identifies the phone fine but is not able to identify the services offered it seems. In the BT settings it always says - ' Paired but not connected' and even after providing the right APN the tethering won't work.

Anyone having any idea / tips?

Anyone having any luck with Windows Mobile (6.1) on Verizon?

I have A5A with Androis 1.6 (Archos 1.7.33), and Verizon HTC Touch Pro (WM 6.1). I am able to tether my Win7 laptop via USB/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS), Bluetooth DUN (put in #777 for phone number, username: myphone@vzw3g.com, pass vzw), Bluetooth PAN (ICS; no PC config needed), WiFi (WMWiFiRouter).

None of these seem to be working for my A5A. I understand that WMWiFiRouter supports Ad Hoc, not infrastructure, and A5A is other way around. Any Infrastructure support for WM? Any luck with the Bluetooth options?

Any way to get some diagnostics that may tell me what is going wrong?

Thanks!
