Posted both on Archos.com and Facebook. I'm not sure why there is no thread for this already, unless I managed to miss something.

$399? Ouch! I like Archos, but this weird coverboard thing doesn't look nearly as sturdy or stable as the Asus Transformer keyboard. It also doesn't extend the battery or offer expansion ports like the Asus keyboards.

Looks like I'll be passing on these, unless they come out with a hard-drive version.

I wonder if the 116 XS will have a higher resolution? I would really like to see something with a full 1920x1080 resolution on these tablets. I love the dock/cover idea, but I would definitely like a higher resolution screen. I think the 116 might be better for my personal needs anyway, especially if the resolution is higher.

Where did you get the information about the 11.6" one from?

Well, so far there is really no information at all about it, but there is a quick French review, and they mention the other sizes in the review.

Original review (in French): http://www.ilovetablette.com/test-archo ... ique-96214

You can translate with Google Translate. They mention an 80, 97, and 116 in addition to the 101.

Also... Craig, can we get some clarification on the dock itself? It doesn't seem like it has a battery to extend the tablet's life while docked, but one of the videos says "docks & charges." It does not specify if it only charges while plugged in on the dock, or if the dock can charge it.

(The video that I mention is one that Charbax posted at http://archosfans.com/ )

Reviews are already out. Pocket Lint give a fair and generally positive appraisal at http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/46987/a ... et-preview

Interesting that Archos suggest JB for the new range could be out in November, so possibly the G9 series could see JB roll out by the end of the year. If they go for it...

No more HDD version...I guess. No word on hdd version at all. Usually they mention both flash and hdd. This time it's flash only.

Quite a few bad review about the keyboards. Let's wait and see. Price is a little too high for somebody not wanting the keyboard at all.

Good question - the coverboard dock does not have a battery to extend battery life of the tablet. It does have a USB out which can be plugged in - when it's plugged in and the tablet is docked, the tablet will charge.

From what I've read... No.

It looks like the dock is meant to be more a piece of the tablet rather than just an accessory for the tablet.

They really seem to want to have it be seamlessly integrated as part of the experience of the device.

The Archos 116 XS has a 1920x1200 screen resolution, target price sub-$500, maybe it's Android and/or Windows RT, but, Archos said it may not come out or it may only come out next year.
