Is there a difference in microphones used for analog and digital recorders? I have an old tape using recorder.I want to buy an external microphone for it. Are microphones used for digital and analog recorders different?

Not really, the recorder will have an input sensitivity and impedance designed for a particular type of microphone, eg a dynamic mic (basically a coil in a magnet) which has a higher output than a condenser mic (which requires a voltage, either a built in cell or DC from the mic jack).
