I got it now with 8GB running Honeycomb, it looks awesome! I'll post my video review later today or tomorrow.

Is Archos going to put ICS on this bad boy? They have announced it for all of the gen 9s

No firmware update as yet to take the 70b 250gb up to Honeycomb. I honestly think that it is not coming.

I want Honeycomb at this point, because that's what was promised, not only was ICS not promised, it wasn't even mentioned, and as Archos has a habit of not really living up to all it's promises, it's ludicrous to expect something from them that they never even suggested 'might come', it raises people expectations to unreasonable levels, which then causes a plethora of rubbish moaning posts.

I get the impression that people may be mixing up the Archos 70 v2 and the Archos 7ob in this thread.

I get the impression that the 70b and the 70 v2 are in fact the same animal, unless you know different ?

They ARE different according to the Archos web site. The 7ob is nothing like an A70 v2; look at http://www.archos.com/products/ta/archo ... gb&lang=en and tell me what you think? It is not listed as an internet tablet on Archos' home page drop down menu, but they DO have something that they call a 70B (not 7ob) internet tablet on their download page - the picture of which looks like a 70 V1. Archos seems to be confused on the issue too.

In archos confusing manner, there is a 7ob ebook reader, and a 70b internet tablet, which as far as i can tel is the same as the 70v2. In my registered products it originally listed a 70v2, but at some point over christmas that changed to list it as a 70b

Yes, I think Archos realized the confusing they were about to cause, and tried to re-name the 'new' A70 the v2, unfortunately, the actual devices have the logo 70b on them. However, they don't look the same, the original 70b is a cheap ebook reader and the 'new' 70b is the uprated A70IT - therefore 70b and A70 v2 are the same device. Where the confusion does lie is where the 250gb A70b fits into this picture. At the moment, this is looking more like an A701/2b, or a half way house as it's been called - it has 512ram, better screen, may or may not have 1.2ghz cpu but is not going to be upgraded to Honeycomb, unlike the 8gb version, of which Charbax already has the upgrade

It may be wishful thinking on my part as i have the 250gb 70b, but id hope as both the 8gb and 250gb devices share a firmware, thats distinct from the standard 70, then any upgrades would be the same.

Can't find the new A70v2 on Archos site, just something on Facebook with a .pdf file. Is it actually available yet?

No, it's not officially released yet - everyone who already has one has aquired it unwittingly, except maybe Charbax, and the retailers that were inadvertantly selling it seem to have pulled it from sale now. It is apparently due for official release very soon, I guess as soon as the Honeycomb update is ready for general release. The device runs superb, so they are clearly not still bugfixing ( actually Archos don't really ever do bugfixing on a newly released product until it has been unleashed on the masses ) so just be a bit patient, it will come.

I thought the CPU was meant to be the same as in v1. On the HMV site it is listed as 1.2GHz.

Is that an early pic/ artist impression on hmv? Maybe thats how they will account for the 70b that a few if ys have, as the case in the pic shows it as a 70 it2

I think we are all going to have to wait and see, I think it's probably a mockup, I'd also be suprised to see it come pre-installed with honeycomb.
Maybe Charbax could comment , as he has one already running Honeycomb - is it badged as 70b or v2 ?

Just found this from liliputing.com at the CES

http://liliputing.com/2012/01/archos-70 ... video.html

The video shows Archos 70b running Honeycomb.
