Sorry Archos, I went with the Samsung Galaxy Tab (used.)

Back in February Charbax told us the great news about the upcoming super cheap & powerful tablets from Arnova: They were supposed to come with capacitive touch screens, blazing fast RK2919 CPUs, and Gingerbread (Android 2.3)

But it is now six months later, and these models still haven't been released in the USA.

I can't put off waiting on every deal that comes buy, for Archos to put out what I want, at a price I could afford. So I ended up buying a cheap, used Samsung Galaxy Tab from a guy in Boston. Just $200. (Most Galaxy Tabs can be bought there for about $250, I just got lucky...and spent four weeks searching for the perfect deal!)

I still think that Archos/Arnova is an amazing company, and their new Gen9 line looks great. Maybe when I upgrade in a couple of years I'll get an Archos Gen9 or Gen10.

- Robert

So arnova 101 looks like same dimensions and resolution of the archos101, but heavier. Bigger ram to accommodate android upgrade? Wonder where the street price will land...

The prices listed are street price. However, the latest price is now US$12 cheaper for both models.

The Arnovatech site is altered to introduce the G2 models:

http://arnovatech.com/products/g2/index ... nl&lang=en

I did not see the 7 inch phone model coming. Now we wait for pricing, availability and some reviews from Hong Kong. Go ahead people.

How long does it take between FCC-tests and release? I want to know when we can expect the 8 inch G2.

Greetings all

What are the major differences between Arnova 10 G2 and Archos 101 Internet Tablet other than price? Arnova 10 G2 - HK$1,980. Archos 101 - HK$2,380 (approximately).

Compare the tech specs, and tell us what diffs you see:
http://arnovatech.com/products/g2/arn_1 ... us&lang=en
http://www.archos.com/products/ta/archo ... us&lang=en

Can't always take every part of it literally - sometimes there are typos or omissions. But I see G2 listed as heavier, running gingerbread, no kickstand, playing APE, and having a lower 4gb option (is that the version you are pricing?).

Thank you for the reply. As you have already said, there are some differences like weight; Arnova 10 G2 runs with Gingerbread, while Archos 101 does not. Maybe another difference is that Arnova 10 G2 comes with preloaded Office Suite.

The version sold in Hong Kong is listed below:
http://hk.jebsenconsumer.com/en/product ... c0004.html

Another major differences are that A101 has HDMI output and USB host port.
These functions can be very useful to some people. For example, to play back video on TV and view photos on camera when you are outside home and office.

European prices?

I am not sure because there are no specs but alas the first store that has this item is 46 km away.
So I hope they got the model description right: 149 euros. Nice. Was 179 a few days ago. Less nice but well.

Confirmation here. 3 in store. Arnova 10 G2 for 149 euro. Same screen as the A101 G8. Bad angles like the screen on the A70. Felt lighter than I expected. Nice to start with but no step up from the A70. But it is bloody cheap.
