I opened mine this morning for the first time.
It quite tough so be careful and persistent.
There is a small screw that needs removing under the pull out rest.
There are three clips along the side with the volume control
Four along both long sides. (top and bottom)
Five smaller clips along the side with the on/off switch.
I released the edge with the volume control on first.
Then one long edge opposite the edge with the name on it (the top)
Then CAREFULLY the short edge with all of the ports on it. There is a small clip either side of the HDMI port. A further two either side of the on/off switch. The last is by the 'top' corner.
Finally the other long edge.

They were all reluctant to release but with patience and persistence they came apart.

I wanted to see if I could improve the GPS signal or at least test it.

Ive read somewhere (sorry forgot where) that there are also 4 screws, each one is under the small rubber feets.

scamlist didnt mention them, i dont know if its because the screws arent there, or the forgot to write about them.

Hi bassa,

It appears that there have been a few different designs of the Archos G9 case. I have seen some pictures where there are screws under each of the rubber feet and others where there are none - mine doesn't have them, even though I once thought it did!

There is also no sign of a screw under the kickstand on mine.

In order to release all the clamps around the body of the tablet that hold the two parts together, you will need some strong, thin tools. Guitar plectrums have been recommended here - I would recommend getting some very strong ones made of fibreglass or carbon fibre. Don't use metal ones, or you will damage the plastic casing.

I picked up a kit on e-bay that does the job quite well.

There were no other screws other than the small one under the 'rest' arm on my 80 G9

I opened up an 80 G9 that I had broken the microUSB connector on (my own fault by the way)...

Although it was a royal pain to get open, the only screw I found involved was that one under the 'rest' arm. Not really sure why that one was actually ever even needed.

Anyway, even though it is now (actually opened many months ago already) I really have no way of ever fixing/replacing the microUSB jack (didn't think I could so it was just an experiment to open it up). So, now it just sits here in my junk pile of "spare parts" :( .
