Complete dump of the Archos 70b eReader.
Made by benoitb, release on ArchosLounge:
http://www.archoslounge.net/forum/showt ... 42&page=27

Dump procedure used to create those files described in the jpg image file.
Thanks to the Archosfans wiki:

Now I would need the help from some experts here (people who wrote the wiki page ?).
I did that dump because I want to install the firmware of the BQ Voltaire that is already confirmed to work fine on the Archos 70b and allows Market and fullscreen mode (that I deeply need to read mangas).

However I want to be able to flash back the Archos firmware, and Archos didn't release it...
I would also like to do a custom rom with SU installed and if possible Market access and fullscreen enabled.

I need help first about the dump: if I install the BQ Voltaire firmware that is larger than my update.img, I'm guessing it will update more than just the 5th partition.
How can I build a complete img similar to that of the BQ Voltaire to ensure I can go back to a full Archos firmware ?

Here is a link to the BQ Voltaire firmware:

Thanks for that custom firmware. Before I try to flash it, I have 2 questions:
- to go back to a stock firmware I just need to reflash my update.img in the same way I will flash with your custom firmware ?
- is it possible to have youtube, perfect viewer, other non-stock apps in full screen ?

Without trying to criticize your efforts, wich are great, I must say
I'm a little dissapointed in the results of this update. Ok, android market
is accesible and thats a good thing! I already have the Youtube app
and its playing (fullscreen) perfectly on the old firmware.
btw, SlideMe, a much better androidmarket then applib, is running perfectly well on the 70b.

Link Slideme: http://www.nextbookusa.com/download.asp

Slideme is software that goes with the Next2 tablet, wich is identical to the 70b

Late answer, sorry ;)

- yes you can flash back the stock firmware with normal flashing procedure (no need for Rockchip tools)
- there's currently no support for fullscreen.

All,

even though you can not find the firmware in the regular download list of firmwares under the support section, the firmware is available on the archos webpage.
You have to login and register your archos 70b with serial.
If you then click on support under your account and then click on the registered archos 70b, it will show you a link to download the firmware for your device.
Why archos did not put the firmware in their regular download list is a still a questionmark (Archos support: Hint, add it to the firmware list)

this for all who searched and did not find it yet.

Dox

Subject: Firmware dump of the 70b ereader

I update my Archos 70b eReader with Original 2.1-update1-1.0.4 buth now it won't turn on anymore :( I get the Archos logo but after that it just stops. I tried to reset with a needle at the back, but it won't help. And I can't put a new .img file in the root, because my pc won't recognize the eReader anymore. Can anything be done or is it now broken????

You can try another method to recover you device. First use RKAndroidTool.exe and then RKAndroidBatchUpgrade.exe as explained in these spanish pages:

http://www.mibqyyo.com/2011/09/05/herra ... n-a-froyo/
http://www.mibqyyo.com/2011/09/16/darwi ... -de-froyo/
http://www.mibqyyo.com/2011/05/13/insta ... ard-reset/

I have an Archos 70b eReader and it is 100% equal as BQ Voltaire. I have recently upgraded to Froyo 2.2.1 and everything works fine.

Seems like the links to http://wiki.archosfans.com/index.php?ti ... 0b_eReader are all dead.

Can somebody please post mirrors to the 70b firmware, especially the 1.0.1 version. THX!
