But there are other problems with Froyo: no multitouch in web browser, GSM part of system is active (annoing icon, changing volume for multimedia is not default because telephone volume is, gsm process takes RAM etc.), some programs seems to work slower (picture browser for example).

I think a lot of people would be very happy (and I would for sure) if someone of you ROM builders could take 1.0.3 (the newest for 7c) official ROM from Archos website and do this:
- add Android Market (and maybe other Google apps if it's not a problem)
- get rid of sceen calibration at startup (because it's not necesary and a cause of problems with launchers)
- root (add possibility to do thing as root, Superuser or something else)

That's it. I like the rest because it's configured properly for Archos 7c.
Could you do this?

Hi good evening.
It was some months ago... Any news ?
I think this will be the best Rom for ours 7C with poor memory
Regards

Disclaimer: You apply this firmware on your own risk. It "should" work but I don't have a 7C to test it on.
I built a rooted eclair rom for the 7C based on the Archos 7C 1.0.3 firmware version of 18 July 2011.

Archos7C_eclair.01.zip (link removed)

Changelog:
    - Full Google Market including youtube apk.
    - Added zeamlaucher next to the standard launcher (zeamlauncher is a fast, light-weight, yet highly configurable launcher).
    - Added Open Intents file manager next to standard FileExplorer.
    - Updated MVPS hosts file (to block 99,5% of the adds in applications and browser).
    - Added TitaniumBackup
    - As the original firmware DOES contain a TSCalibration.apk, so does this one as I simply copied it. I don't know why it is in this firmware or whether it is called upon startup.

Downloading, I will try as soon as possible. Last monday I tried Sowa's rom, so again to reinstall everything... :(
Hope not to brick my 7C!

That's why I pack Titanium Backup with my roms.

Hangs on screen calibration, screen not responding after calibration (sure you used capacitive screen?):
Calibration. Touch paint.... (few seconds)
Calibration. Do not touch the screen
Calibration Succesful... not possible to press ok

First time I also saw an error Titanium backup not responding.

Probably we should start a new topic for this rom.

Probably we should start a new topic for this rom.

I took the Archos 7C 1.0.3 firmware from the Archos site. I left everything as it was. I only made it rooted, added the Google apps and two more (zeamlauncher and Titanium).
The rom is still a 100% 7C eclair rom with it's own kernel. It's only rooted.

It's easy to remove the calibration apk. I specially mentioned it as I didn't know either what it does in a capacitive rom.

We are indeed hijacking this thread. I will start a new topic with another rom tomorrow. It's bedtime now.

Thanks.... I will give it a try right now...
Your are right Titanium┬┤s is the best...
Thanks again.

EDIT:
Same that above... continuous calibration reload and touch not working.... I will try your fix by deleting calibration...
