Still cannot update the first post... A new ROM.

7htv2_22.22 20 june 2011

- Disabled the sampling profiler so no snapshots are writen anymore to the snapshots directory of the SD card.
- Added the Google Contacts application
- Fixed the Calendar synching issue.
- Added working PhotoBrowser
Market needs the "market fix", see below.
For fullscreen and adhoc use ROMSettings.

Download : 7htv2_22.22 (multiupload)

7htv2_22.21 17 june 2011

Patched the webkit, so the Android browser doesn't crash anymore on the Google Mobile page.
Also nice to know is that somehow USB Mass Storage is kind of working, see this youtube movie.
Market needs the "market fix", see below.

Download : 7htv2_22.21 (multiupload)

7htv2_22.20 12 June 2011

Froyo ROM for Archos 7 HT V2, based on several other RK2818 Android Froyo ROMs. (still the old A7HTV2 kernel :( )
Supports ROMSettings for fullscreen operation and AdHoc WLAN. (ROMSettings)
In this Froyo ROM I've made a patch so that the problem with Apps only installing if the device is mounted to the PC is gone (Angry Birds and Aldiko e.g.). Now all applications are installed on Internal memory.
Included Launcher is ADW.Launcher.
Slide lock can be unlocked by sliding, but also with menu button (Short slide of the power switch to the left)
Also got rid of that annoying package scanner.

Download : 7htv2_22.20 (multiupload)

This 7htv2_22.20 and 7htv2_22.21 ROM still needs the "market fix":

1) start the market, sing in to your Google account, and wait a little while (I wait until the new Market update is downloaded, you can see this in Settings->Applications->Manage Applications, under the Downloaded section.)
2) After this go to Settings->Applications->Manage Applications
3) Clear the cache of the Market. (Not the data!)
4) Clear the data of the Google Framework Services
5) Reboot (I recommend doing this by resetting the device with a needle, as it seems the device is more stable after one reset) and go to Market, it should work and show you all apps. If not just repeat step 1 till 5.

Note step 1) If your market the first time keeps "loading", just force close it (Settings->Applications->Manage Applications) and start again.

Birdiebnl, you are an absolute star thank you for all the effort and knowledge you have put into this activity.

I have been lurking for a while, reading and implementing the releases as you have published them. Everything has gone successfully as described in the instructions. Even decided to to drop back to release .04 to check it could be done and it couldn't have gone smoother.

What I now want to do is upgrade from .21 to .22 but having spent a lot of time downloading and configuring apps I wondered if there was a way of upgrading to the new image without having to manually select, load and configure the apps I had previously installed?

This is my first foray into Android so forgive my newbie question.

Thanks,
Alan

Only way I know is using Titanium Backup, it backup's your apps and data of the apps. (That's the way I do it). But you have to backup every app, and afterwards restore every app.

hello,

i just received a v2 and would like to know how to install this rom.
just copy on root and flash? is this a full android system or just files for updating?

i am used to my galaxy s, where i have to re-format to prevent bricks.

It's full rom not an update
You don't need to pre-format cause all will be format during update.
You need to backup all data in the flash memory because it will be format to.
This may not cause any brick, just keep the power on, any don't remove anything during the update

ok thanks. the file (60mb) looked small for a full android system
those for my galaxy s are ~150-200mb in size. only updates are smaller.

Thank you for your work. This is a great opportunity for many of us use the device with advanced capabilities. I did not speak English, but I'll try to ask questions correctly:
1. Is it possible to reduce the boot time?
2. Forum had a question about the ability to install the living wallpaper, but there was no answer.
3. If you are not hard to please give a link to a "clean" Android 2.2 (froyo1.00) for A7HTV2 without pre-installed applications and Launcer.

thanks again

hi there :)

i am the "new-one" ...
installed 7htv2_22.22 20 june 2011
runs good - big thx -
only problem i have is that my 16Gig-micro-SD card is not readable anymore.
messages: (it is in german so i have to translate the message):

- card detected
- preparing card (looking for errors)
- card can be removed

and if i use the explorer - the card is ├Âhm "not-present" ;-)

tried to use ES-file-explorer - similar error message
- card not present or not connected.
when i use the card in a normal adapter @ the PC it is working good and smooth
also in my Odys Genisis with adapter - so i exclude that the card is "death".
any idea who i can bring 22.22 to read the card?

thanks again and sorry for my bad english.

What do you mean with " is not readable anymore."?
Was it readable using the default archos rom?

If the 7HTV2_22.22 is your first custom rom it won't help. It will only help if you used one of my Froyo roms which does have a read-writable system partition. If you used one of these that post will help.
Again: if this is your first custom rom, it won't help.

How is your SD-card formatted, or in other words: is it FAT-16, FAT-32 or maybe even NTFS? You can check that in windows by checking the properties.

hoi

yes - my first ROM install on a home-tablet /android device

so - just had a look at the card
formated in FAT32 (was not sure if it was 32 or 16)
the card ist not "not-readable"
my fault - wrong explaination/words ...

the card it self works pretty good in any device
but not in the Archos 7 HT with the froyo 22.22 :(
the card is "not-connected" when it is plugged in.

i also think that it is not a r/w permission problem -
the card it self is not recognizable in the archos when i plug it in.
i took normal explorer - and also tried the es-file-explorer -
Error - no card in slot ... allthought it was in

i take the card in my win7 netbook - all fine
(also it was usable in the archos with 2.1 eclaire - but i need root permission
couse i need to map/mount some/many folders from different servers ... so eclair is not my first choose...

the froyo 2.2.1 would fit perfect for my work with the archos

if you need more information - pls ask

I don't know. Hopefully someone else with this rom and an SDcard mentions his/her experience.

I also tried your normal froyo 0.9
There i had browser and calibration problems.
But maybe i will try again your rom.

Or flash again the 22.22 - maybe was an error while flashing

My 4Gig SDcard works fine. I've my Titanium backup's on it, no problem. Also have a few thousands of ebooks on it, no problem.

If it doesn't work, you are probably sticked to another (custom) ROM. Do you have ADB running? Maybe you can provide us with a logfile? (adb logcat)

sticked to another ROM? ├Âhm sorry - as i wrote i am the new-bee here.

does that means that file-fragments are still on my
archos device -and they mixed up while flashing?

ADB is ähm for ...?(google says - Android debugg bridge)
means bridging "somthing-with-USB" ?
with the 22.22 i can connect via USB-cable to my winXP Pro machine here.
so maybe we can exclude an ADB problem... or it is a "part-problem"
connection as an USB device - YES
connection TO an USB device - NO

i did a test yesterday - and took the 2 Gig SD card from my daughters DSi

same problem...
message in the top-line:

- SD-Card (it is in german: "SD-Karte")
- preparing/testing card (it is in german: "Karte wird Vorbereitet")
- card can be unmounted (it is in german: "Karte kann entfernt werden")
- SD-Card
- preparing/testing card
- card can be unmounted

(allways twice)

after that nothing more - no connection - althought it is in.

EDIT:
*smile* - try to monut a folder from my server here - and start a stream -
Archos/ES-File Explorer Message: did you forget to put in a SD-Card?
special sens of humor - i like that :)
/EDIT

i will re-flash my archos7 ...
hope that helps... couse i still think 22.22 woud fit perfect.

one thing
should i have a SD-Card in the Archos while i flash?
couse while my first flash i had no sd-card her ein my office...

I meant if it is working with another ROM, you could probably better use that ROM, I don't know how to fix the problem.
Did your SD card worked when you had the original Archos firmware? Or the froyo.09? I don't think you have answered that question.
polarie wrote:ADB is ähm for ...?
ADB stands for Android Debug Bridge. With it you can easy debug things on your archos device using your PC. I'm interested in a logfile. You can make this one with ABD for example, but also with a terminal emulator on your Android device. (More info on ADB)

If I eject and again reinsert my SD card it only shows them one time. You don't have more partitions on your SD-card?

Don't know for sure, but mine is always in it.

it worked with the original software (Android 2.1 eclair)
for me - i thought the "ROM" is the complete firmware/software
birdiebnl wrote: Did your SD card worked when you had the original Archos firmware? Or the froyo.09? I don't think you have answered that question.
yes it worked with original archos fiemware.
and i think also with froyo.09 only calibration and browser did not work
so i found your 22.22

that sounds complicate :) - i would be happy to provide you the needed logfiles ...
will have a look @ the link in a moment when i answerd all the question
birdiebnl wrote:If I eject and again reinsert my SD card it only shows them one time. You don't have more partitions on your SD-card?
only one big partition
birdiebnl wrote:Don't know for sure, but mine is always in it.
i was worry that the SD card will be deleted an all files will be erassed while flashing -
so i will back-up the SD-card an let it
in the archos - maybe it is needed to be in while flashing that the right driver will be implemented?
*maybe thats a stupid thougth - *smile* i don't know

EDIT:

had a look @ ADB
*wow* - seems you are all the command line gods and i am a total newbee to this

I think also that the 22.22 ROM is very complete and good working, most issues with previous froyo ROM's fixed. A pity that your SD card doesn't work.
polarie wrote:that sounds complicate :) - i would be happy to provide you the needed logfiles ...
You can do it without ADB (i'm very used to ADB) if you download a terminal app from the market.
polarie wrote:i was worry that the SD card will be deleted an all files will be erassed while flashing
SD-card is not touched during flashing. Let's see what happens if you let it in while flashing.
