I flashed my Arnova 10 with CM7 using the standard procedure from sd-card (archos/arnova ui).
Now I want back since CM is just not quite stable but I find that my USB port isn't working! So no RKBatchUpgrade etc
Recovery mode isn't an option either since I don't have the touch enabled recovery. Tried using a usb keyboard. Works fine when in Android but not in recovery.
Also tried to flash the recovery.img from latest Arnova firmware (which should be touch-enabled, right?): "flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img" in terminal emulator. It says "flashing..." and then just stays there forever. Maybe I'm just not patient enough but I waited for over 10 mins, couldn't take that long to flash 2MB?

Please tell me there is some other way to flash back to 2.1 or 2.2. I could get a friend of mine to solder the usb connector back but if I can save him the trouble that would be great.

Would it be possible to copy/install the original Arnova firmware update tool on Cyanogenmod so I can flash it that way? Or would that be too tied in to the system?

OK, problem solved. Found the following in the CM7 for RK2818 topic on xda-devs:

put update.img into root of SD card, then run following command on root shell (or gscript)
Code:
mkdir -p /cache/recovery
echo --update_image=SDCARD:update.img > /cache/recovery/command
reboot recovery

if you want to use internal NAND flash instead of SD card,
Code:
mkdir -p /cache/recovery
echo --update_image=uDisk:update.img > /cache/recovery/command
reboot recovery

should work.

Using this I was able to flash back to stock firmware! Now I can upgrade and know I can get back.
