Agreed. I have a desire for a decent tablet sub-200. What are some alternatives? :X

I am with Charbax on this. All four of the ideas he listed seem reasonable. (and the reason for the delay may be two of these reasons, not just one. )

But the good news is that in any of the cases, it still seems likely that Archos/Arnova will release one or more updated Arnovas very soon. At this point, it seems clear that they are waiting for the June gen 9 event.

I'm not buying any tablet from anyone until the Archos event! It is worth the wait.

FWIW, I have never owned any Android tablet, I am new to this. But I read news and blogs about many tablets and PMPs, from many different perspectives. Looking at all the data, I have come to trust Charbax's analysis of the situation.

Also, even though I have not yet purchased a tablet, Charbax has convinced me that when you compare how much product you get for the dollar (or Euro), Archos is the best value out there. Don't get me wrong, I love the work by some other companies. The Samsung galaxy Tab is fantastic, and a fairly good deal, and Apple's iPad 2 really is impressive. But they are not the best value. For the same amount of money, you get more from Archos.

- Robert

Hrmm.. The originally announced MSRPs don't seem very realistic for the RK29 tablets at this point IMO.
But I guess we'll see what they have to say tomorrow.

And the crickets return! Oh well. Guess my first tablet won't be an Archos/Arnova.
Maybe they'll release it by the time I'm ready to sell and the second one will be.

No kidding. I wanted to buy one of these to hold me over until the gene comes out, but I guess I'll get Teclast T760 to hold me until "september" when the gen 9 is supposed to come out. I genuinely like Archos products, but announcing a product, giving a release date and then giving no information when that date comes and goes makes it terribly hard to not just go somewhere else.

Seems these things have gone the direction of whatever the hardware equivalent of vaporware is. At best, there may be something around the Christmas season but by then I'm sure I will have dug a little deeper and gone with an Asus or Amazon tablet. I think that Archos missed the boat here - there obviously is a market for the inexpensive tablets but by the time they get them to market the price gap between them and the other options will be less.

After months and months of waiting, I finally broke down and bought a Coby Kyros 8024 on ebay last night to tide me over until Archos gets their poop together...

I ended up going with an Aishuo and sufficiently satisfied with it too after a custom firmware install :)

So are we going to assume that this product "Arnova 10b" is vaporware? Cant' seem to find the RK2918 version anywhere (online/retail) as shown by the OP/reviewer.
Products sold so far in the US, show that it has a RK2818 not the RK2919 touted for the last 3 months. Looks like the Arnova 10 G2 is the product to look ahead to.

Here's what I've found so far.

Arnova 10 - resistive - RK2818

501680 - 8GB
501714 - 4GB

Arnova 10b - capacitive - RK2818

501732 - 4GB
501737 - 8GB

Can it stand up against the gen8 Archos 101 on the aspects of speed and screen? I thought there is only one speaker?
