I second World Newspapers and Tunein Radio. These are also good examples of apps that are more open and much easier to use on Android. Paid for WN for husband's iPhone and no good papers available due to rights issues, which I'm guessing is mainly to do with iTunes restrictions. And the Android tunein app is just much more intuitive than iTunes version and has to close if you want to do anything else....

I really like the audio book version of MortPlayer. I've not really used the music player version that much. But based on the audio book version I'll offer it up as a suggestion.

Zeam - launcher that allows fast home screen switching, very customizable home screen.
Taskswitcher - switch between running applications with your home button
Widgetsoid - Clock and Time app, replaces icons and default control panel widget with new customizable icons with transparencies for any function or app on the device, sequential brightness control instead or step control.
Ultra Notes - quick note taker with custom wallpaper, password protection, backup and restore, encryption, home screen post-it widget.

Archos 32
Doom Live Wallpaper
250+ Solitare Collection
PowerAmp
GBCoid Lite-(I actually got this from AppsLib)

All are so incredible and work smooth.
PowerAmp is the better alternative to the stock player, which wasn't working for me for some reason.

QuickPic - great image organiser/viewer
TSwipe pro - swipe keyboard, very customisable
Olive Office Premium - best one I found for .xls files
Auto Memory Manager
AppMonster v1 - backup all your apps
Dropbox

InkPad - notes
PlayerPro - music
Photobucket - android version is great, better than pc version IMO
TuneIn - doesn't always work that well since upgrade
World Newspapers - excellent choice of papers/mags
Viewranger - Irish OS mapping, brilliant!

Most essential app for me is Thumb Keyboard. Works 100% better on the 101 than the normal keyboard.

I've been searching for a browser that will allow me to tap and connect to links, attachments, pictures, etc. within email messages. I just downloaded Skyfire and it does everything I want. I would say this is an essential app for me as I get a quite a bit of email.

Also just downloaded the latest FW upgrade ....2.3.81 and everything is working very well.

Thumb Keyboard by Beansoft is the most essential for my A101. It splits the keyboard so you can use your thumbs to type. Easy to use and comes with a variety of skins.

If, like me, you use your Archos to stream a HUGE amount of media to your device, I have found the app HomeDia absolutely unbeatable. The interface is pleasant enough and easy/familiar to navigate, but it's the sheer speed at which it "explores" the network content that is stunning. It can access 2 Terrabytes of Media for streaming in about ten seconds. Compared to the stock Archos Network UI which would take forever to access that much stuff, I can't recommend it enough. One stroke of genius is that if you long press the video file you want to watch, you can select the last option (Open with...) which plays it in the Archos default fullscreen (no menu buttons!) video player instead of its own, which hands down is the best video player for the device anyway!

Others I can't go without:
Win-Remote (when you can't be bothered with the keyboard or mouse for your HTPC)
aWARemote Pro (Winamp remote browser for settting playlists while visualisations are running on screen)
Quick Office
Slide-It Keyboard
Archos Cinema Plug-In (seems EVERYTHING has AC3 audio format nowadays!)
BBC iPlayer
Dolphin Browser HD

Currently trying to get my hands on a beta version of MediaBrowser Remote which is looking bang tidy at the mo.
Oh, and Fart Sound Board. That just cracks me up every time I use it!
