Just started a thread with the developers over at http://www.bodhilinux.com/forums/ to try and get this awesome little distro of linux running on our tablets. What is Bodhi linux? Its a beautiful, fully functional, low resource hogging version of Ubuntu, basically. It uses the e17 desktop window manager (http://www.enlightenment.org/) which is better suited to tablet use than Gnome or KDE. It will run on machines with virtually no resources (http://www.bodhilinux.com/system.php) and run well. Last but not least, have a look at the software that it can run (http://www.bodhilinux.com/software/doku.php).
One of the developers on the forum thinks that they might try and push an Arm based version of Bodhi up their list of todo's if they could get the support for it So if anyones interested, and even if your not, please visit the links and don't be afraid to join the forums to show support for this. This could be amazing if it bears fruit.
Thanks for reading

The guys over at Bodhi need a test machine so if anyone can offer some info as how to attain one it'd be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again.

I'll chip in $20US if some of the rest of you want to get together on this for a gen8 tablet.

Cant the use any of the Gen8 Tablets to test?

What about yahoo im with video chat or something like this, is this something this could support?

Anything you're willing to give would be excellent, please check out the thread over on bodhi forums for instructions on donating. I think that as long as your device runs the SDE then Bodhi should work also but I'm not a dev so i can't give a solid answer. I really hope video chat will work when we have a fully functional distro but i wouldn't hedge any bets yet. I suppose it really depends on the support and feedback the bodhi team get for this project.
Thanks for reading and thanks for your offer of donation.
Anyone else out there interested ?

Xfce is better suited for a desktop but E17 is better suited to our tablet format. I've used Xfce before and its really snappy but I'd sacrifice a little ( and i mean "a little" ) for the look and feel of E17. Really looking forward to this.

I don't mind testing this as I think it will be pretty cool to have running on our tablets :)

WOW I think it is amazing for a first release and for it to still be in alpha, depending on what software there is on it, I may use it instead of Android, so far it seems to work perfectly just testing out the Wifi as we speak :D

I've had a little trouble with wifi but i really dont mind because its just so amazing for such an early test build. I think i might be saying goodbye to android for a while when a stable is released! Did you see how you're able to set the cpu speed? Wicked.

Yeah, whenever I try to connect to my wifi it says bad password even thought I put the WPA key in correctly, hopefully that'll get sorted out. Yeah I did that is quite cool and a lot easier to access compared to what there is on Android, where can you get software from with no internet ? Is it possible to download load it on my pc and then install it ?

To get wifi to work you'll need to setup your connection using "wicd" , scan for your network and enter your security key ( it may look llike you're not connected because the slider keeps moving but when it says "done connecting" in the corner you should be ready ). Open terminal and type sudo apt-get update, password debian . If it fails then somethings wrong with the network settings you entered. If not then continue. Reboot.
When you're back on the desktop again restart wicd and make sure you're connected again. Open a terminal and enter su, password debianroot. Next type adduser debian sudo and then reboot again.
Back again , make sure your connected again and open terminal and type the following
sudo addgroup --gid 3003 inet
sudo addgroup --gid 3004 net_raw
sudo adduser debian inet
sudo adduser debian net_raw . Reboot.
Install a web browser of your choice from terminal "sudo apt-get install midori" or "chromium-browser"
This method is from the openAOS website for their build of debian on gen8 and worked for me.

The thing is when I try to connect to my wifi it says bad password, even though I put the WPA (Pre-shared key) in correctly, the encryption on the router is WPA2 can this work with that or only WPA ?

Try using wpa passphrase instead of preshared key in the network's properties box.
