Archos.com Traffic

Post by nhammer »

I've been watching the traffic on my home network. I have given my Archos 101 to my daughter to use. She hasn't complained about anything wierd but I am noticing a very high number of http requests to archos.com (see picture https://www.dropbox.com/s/va9kniny9fdscgv/archos.jpg. Any ideas what this device is doing?

Thanks,
viking

Maybe its the app that checks for firmware update... unless its getting the user manual.

Thats what I thought too, but I checked for an update manually and it didn't have any. I have watched this traffic pattern and it is the same each day, not just on particular time.

I'm more curious than anything.

No, i mean the checking itself, not any downloading. I think there is an app for this which you may be able to stop or experiment with. And the manual can be invoked from archos... dont assume any explicit user cmmand is at play, things go on in background. Maybe gallery app could have been pointed at archos and eternally will scan for photos and even make thumbnails.
