Hi everyone,
I received my Archos 70 Internet Tablet on Christmas and on January 16, 2011 when I unplugged it from my computer it shut off. Like others I tried turning it on, resetting it by holding down the power button by more than 10 seconds, resetting it but using the reset button on the back etc. Nothing I try is working.
When I plug it in to charge the charging light doesn't come on. Even after a whole night of so-called ÔÇ£chargingÔÇØ, it still won't blink to signal fully charge. I don't think it's holding a charge. I can't turn it on. What should I do? Please help.

Thanks in advance :)

are you charging it by any change through the USB port ? or thru regular DC inlet?

Are you sure this is a Archos 70 Internet Tablet? Just asking because they do not have a reset button on the back. If it is, make sure you are plugging the AC adapter into the power port and not the headphone jack (Some people seem to do this as they are the same size).

Try another charger maybe to see if it is the charger or the device.

Man, I had mine plugged in for an hour and couldn't figure out why it wasn't charging when I first got it.

I was one of those people that just shoved the plug into the device without looking, and actually had it plugged into the headphone outlet.

i experienced the same last weekend. And I concluded finally that the reason was room temperature too low. Just place your tablet in a warmer room, and after some time, you will find it charges again!

Thanks a lot to everyone,

but unfortunately there is no changes.
my room is the warmest in our house
right port
I tried a lot of buttons combinations to turn on my device. It seems the battery completely discharged and I don't know why I can't charge it NOW, because recently the charger has worked well.

Make sure that the AC plus is on the AC port and not the headphones (yes it fits there too).
If you get some juice going, start the device and click it to Deep Sleep.
If you keep it at shutdown the battery light will not start to blink, it takes several hours after the Android says 100% that the indication light starts to blink.
At least did for my 43, 70 and 101.

I held down the power button and vol down for 10 or so seconds when mine did that and it came back on and started charging again. before that it wouldn't even start charging. It happened the one time I let it go completely dead.

The headphone jack and charge jack are the same size. The 70 only recharges with the provided AC adapter. I made the mistake of sticking the adapter end into the headphone jack before realizing my mistake, and of course it would not charge that way. Once I realized there was another hole on the side and put the charging end into it all was well and my 70 has been recharging fine since.

It's a good thing that sticking the charger into the wrong port doesn't fry the device! :)

Same problem. I let the battery drain till it died, and now it won't charge or switch on. I've tried all possible key combinations, power + vol up/down, holding all combinations for up to half a minute - no response from the device. It won't turn on, the LED won't light up, and it won't charge. Any suggestions? Does anyone know how to open the damn thing so I can remove the battery and put it in again so it'd reset itself?
