GameLoft games that actually works on A70

Post by Sauron »

Hi,

I'm just a bit tired of installing/uninstalling games from GameLoft - just to check if it's working, it's playable etc. They've made quite a nice bunch of games in HD series - but non of them is "designed" for Archos (I've already wrote to Gameloft about this problem - they politely responded "they do their best", but there's many Android devices right now on market...).
Games are cheap - but not that cheap to buy (you buy a game for precise device - not the title itself) every version of it - and check if this one may work (or not).

I write it here (not in Gen8 - general forum) because A101 has different screen resolution, and A32 has no multitouch - so we can't do it "in general".

Dungeon Hunter 3.4.7 - works OK
Hero of Sparta 3.2.7 - works OK, soft buttons hide parts of interface but playable
Hero of Sparta 3.3.0 - works OK, soft buttons hide parts of interface but playable
Avatar 3.2.7 - works perfect, never freezes
Hawkx 3.2.5 - works OK
Asphalt5 3.1.9 - works OK, I have to install apk everytime I want to play :/

On ipmart you can check some general compatibility informations.

Please write about yours experience with those games here :)

Avatar 3.2.7 works perfect, never freezes. Asphalt 5 3.1.9 is a little slow with 800Mhz and freezes after 20-30 min playing; worked fine with 2.1 firmware though

Would be great to try these games on my 70.

However I dont see how I can download and install them.

So do you purchase and downloads these games for the 70?

Am I missing something obvious here?

Yes, you can buy them on gameloft page - but you have to choose other device then Archos70. Usually works Samsung Galaxy S (best solution - since it has the same screen resolution as A70) or Motorola Droid. But before that check what version (written above) is on what phone (link to ipmart). But to be honest - best of all would be to write to gameloft and ask them for Archos version, if they see a potential - thy will probably make proper releases.

Ah - so thats the way.

I did email them and they said that the Archos wasn't supported and a big 'sorry'.

Ok - thanks for the advice - i will maybe buy a game later today and try this out.

Cheers

I tried dungeon hunter but to no avail. I just downloaded awhile ago.I got version3.2.3. It doesn't start just force closes. How do I get the version mentioned? by the way, I used droid x as the phone model.

Thanks in advance.

i'm still on the stock 2.1 android - used a Samsung 'GT-i9000 Galaxy S' I think.

Seems to work fine so far.

Lot of thumb bashing though.

As mentioned above, I use 'Dungeon Hunter 3.4.7' and it works fine.

Trouble seems to be that people think a later number like 3.5.2 is a better version than 3.4.7 when infact they seem to be versions for different devices. I try to download the one that says it works on Galaxy Tab and so far they work.

In response to gameloft games, I have mostly all of them on my Evo but majority wont work with archos unless I rebuy them under Samsung phone. That kinda sucks. How do you redownload using the archos without repurchasing.

Technically it should not be illegal since you can install apps bought from the market into any of your android device as long as you set it up with your account. It's just Gameloft games that has this restriction. Now I see why a lot are so against buying these games since they are not in the market.

You can easily find updated .apk files of all the gameloft games like asphalt5, dungeon hunter, HAWX etc as well as NFS: Shift... however due to the res problem on the tablet it is laggy and the controls are off...

There is no screen resolution problem and games are not laggy. If you get proper resolution games (800x480) for other Android device the only problem are soft buttons. This can be dissabled in UrukDroid from example...

Does anyone of you happened to loose savegame because of Archos hang during game? I've lost my Dungeon Hunter save - permanently - and I'm curious how often this happens...
