Read PDF-Ebooks on your Archos 70...

i use the nook app and it looks good. Remember though that e-ink is easier on the eyes and in the sunlight.

I think Archos 70 is better to read books than Archos 101... I am about to buy one of them but couldn't choose any yet!!!!!!

Number of pages (eg 100) doesn't seem to be a big deal. I watched a video on youtube showing A100 rendering BBC focus magazine. Such a fluent.

I'm waiting for my A70. gonna use it mostly for ebook reading also.

I used my A70 tonight to read a book while I was waiting for dinner at a restrurant (low light situation). I think it's good for short periods of time, however when I want to do some serious and long term reading I will continue to use my Kindle 3.

Hello, I'm trying to read some PDF's and using android adobe pdf reader but it has the big problem that it does not save the last page that was read. So if I open again the PDF I'm back to page 1.

Does somebody know of an android PDF reader that saves the last page read?

Aldiko 2 is going to be out soon and apparently will support PDF files so here's hoping it's PDF support is good.

I don't know about nook or kindle (didn't tried them). I'm using Adobe Reader, it's faster than PDF viewer. It handles large files really good (80-100MB), scrolls fast...

i have seen many man big pdf┬┤s on the A70, like magazins wich pictures and texts, and I must say I am impressed.
the Adobe reader ist good and also fast, but it does not save the pages so you have to reatart the file, but there is another reader which is very good "RepliGo Reader" it takes a little bit longer to load, just 2 or 3 seconds but it saves the pages, so if you close the file and open it later you are on the same stage, thats realy good for reading magazins....

And for PDF ebooks, you can convert them with the freeware Calibro to Epub so the Aldiko can handle it and then it is very easy to read it....

one in all the A70 is a very good device, if you think what you get for 250 EUR.....i would buy it again and again....

I've always found reading PDF's to be a bit hit and miss. Some seem to work fine while others are either slow or barely usable. For the annoying ones I convert the pdf into an epub.

The only minor issue is sometimes the pdf - epub conversion has slight formatting (like a header or footer tag appearing on some pages) but I would highly recommend it

I also use calibre but there are others out there doing the same thing

Many thanks for the link to Calibro or is it Calibre? I have tried this on a large pdf file, about 150 pages and it converted it in no time. I then transferred the epub file to my Archos 70 SD card but when I tried to read it via Aldiko it did not recognise the file.
This started me looking to find where my existing Aldiko books were stored and I could not find them on the system file manager or Astro. This may be due to my lack of knowledge of Android file structure.
Any help please?

Solpuerto, the books have to be in the .epub format and you need to put the books on the sd card in the eBooks/import/ folder.....Now on aldiko you need to import them! Menu import.....

You can try VuDroid. Not fast, but at least it remembers the last page read (not the position on the page though).

I set up the folders you suggested and tried to import the .epub file but no joy. I then re ran Calibre on the pdf in case I got the conversion wrong, tried again no luck. I then deleted and re-install Alkido, tried again no luck. It just keeps telling me it cannot find an epub file, even though the file name has .epub on the end.

I've tried a few readers and the best I've found so far is RepliGo. I mostly read magazines with it and it's pretty fast. I do have an issue of pc world which for some reason takes longer to load the pages, but the rest of my mags have worked great. It also remembers your page which is always nice.
