Finally!(?)
But OMAP3? COME ON! Galaxy Tab 7 plus got Dual Core Exynos! They can squeeze it in 7" chassis, so why not OMAP4?

Would love a trade in program...
After setting up a Galaxy tab 10.1 for my dad this past week, I am loving the a70 form factor even more.

But this will also mean that they will put out the kernelsources and then there is a higher chance for us to get ICS on Gen8 A70 V1
Re: Archos 70 version 2 coming later this year or early 2012
Other than the display, what will the new v2 offer over an original A70 with Urukdroid installed? Doesn't Urukdroid permit reconfiguration of system memory? At least it looks like the Gen 8 A70 is not totally dead!

May want to read the article. It also offers more RAM (different than system storage), 8GB more storage and Honeycomb OS (IFAIK, Honeycomb handles system storage differently).steveb625 wrote:Other than the display, what will the new v2 offer over an original A70 with Urukdroid installed? Hopefully! I'd be happy with Honeycomb though.FZelle wrote:But this will also mean that they will put out the kernelsources and then there is a higher chance for us to get ICS on Gen8 A70 V1

Underwhelming offer with the Arnova G2 tablets lower in the pricelists. Hope the old G8 can get the upgrade to Android 3 out of this.

I think the fact that they're being sold in the uk for £74.99 is a strong indication that they stopped producing them a while back

Re: Archos 70 version 2 coming later this year or early 2012
Hi I found CPW advertising it on their website for £99.99 but when I called them they advised the A70 was out of stock and they would not be getting any more in. Good luck if you can get one for £74.99.
I ended up buying off amazon market for £120 (a lot of other vendors still selling for £180...!!!)

Include a GPS and a full power micro USB port and I will buy one to replace my existing A70.

Re: Archos 70 version 2 coming later this year or early 2012
It looks like the CPU is updated.
Various sellers list the 70IT2(amazon etc.) as having an 1.2Ghz proc. Yes, it's listed as Arnova, but still...
http://www.amazon.de/dp/B006JZNVE2/ref= ... B006JZNVE2
From a very kind AL user we got this information:
version logiciel : 2.4.81 android 2.2.1)
version mat├®riel : A70S2-V3
OMAP version : ES1.2
On my G8 it says ES1.1, so the processor seems to be different. Because OMAP3630 can run up to 1.2 Ghz, we can assume that it is just an overcloked processor.

Re: Archos 70 version 2 coming later this year or early 2012
cast your mind back 12 months - the device was launched with the cpu limited to 800 mhz due to problems running it at full speed ( 1ghz ) - I'm not sure I want the same cpu o/c'd to 1.2ghz
Re: Archos 70 version 2 coming later this year or early 2012
It was limited because with 1GHz not every device could reach the advertised batterielive.
Not because the procs couldn't handle it.

is there any news on a release date yet?
